Wow the additional pics on the second listing present a much different story than the first set.
I wonder if the drains in the bottom of the door got plugged and allowed water to pool/rot out?
Also interesting that it has a '68 shift knob, is that common on what I'm assuming is an early production '69?

Looks like a great car regardless, I'd just buff the paint out and drive it.

I've never seen a door shell rot on the interior side of the car.

Maybe something that retains water was left inside the door...... for decades???

I have seen unusual rotted out places from mouse nests. Mouse pee will do a number to metal.  Wingnut
