I also found this article:
https://www.newspapers.com/clip/19477889/the_courierjournal/
which tells a bit more in-depth about what the argument was about, which the guy, Bruce Allen Huff, didn't want to drive a newer truck.

I did a bit more research, but didn't see what ultimately was the outcome of the charges against Bruce Huff, maybe somebody here knows.

I found a guy with the exact name who married in 1991, a low probability, but it could be somebody else.

WOW!  I remember as a kid (but a few years later) having my dad call me to the TV to watch the 500.  I'm sure he watched it and enjoyed.  Also seeing the wide world of sports startup brought back a lot of memories.

Never realized they lost so many cars due to engine failures.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

2000 bail released 2 days later after shooting glotzbach

Yes, even the $2000 bail seems pretty minimal, but I can't imagine Bruce Huff wasn't ultimately convicted of something.  I'll have to spend more time researching unless somebody here already knows.

The shooter spent a little time in the pen, got Jehovah Witness saved, last I knew he was bad shape with Parkinsons, might have passed on. I don't care to check.

Funny story, kind of... Last June, I was closing on a condo I was flipping, and was at a title company in Steeling Heights, Michigan. Our closing agent had the last name of Glotzbach. I said there was a pretty famous former NASCAR driver with that same last name - drove those big winged cars. She was a relative of his (I believe "uncle" by marriage, but can't remember for sure). She's says, I can't believe anybody would know of Uncle Charlie! :scratchchin:

Even here in Southern Indiana where he has always lived he is not real well known-people have no idea of the legend about 3 miles from our shop in Jeffersonville. However, 2 summers ago we held a MOPARS only car show at our shop and I called Charlie and got him to come-he was revered by those "in the know", and once I got on the loudspeaker by everyone else. We got 75 cars for that 1-time only show at our shop-I guess we ought to do it again! The free sodas, hot dogs and chips surely didn't have anything to do with it, but Charlie Glotzbach and 7 wing cars parked on the street might have got some attention. If we do it this summer, virus permitting, and I can get Lee Wheeler to bring his Bird & Daytona, we will have, as a minimum 10 wing cars at a little local show, a 63 Hemi (Savoy?) and the only 64 actual MaxWedge I have ever seen. We are right across the river from Kentucky and there are a lot of old Mopars hidden in the hills, along with Charlie!
