That is to say, it doesn't hit the block or the headers and the terminals are in the same location as our old mega starters?

I have a stock magnum ministarter on my 440 with 2 1/8 tube ttis. No grinding, banging, or denting.

:iagree:    A stock mini starter for a 90's Dakota works!

Are the terminals in the same location?

No, not exactly.....terminals on the stock Mopar starter are on the solenoid on the top of the starter, the Dakota starter has the terminals at the rear of the starter body. I have one in the Daytona....had to re-route the main cable and the brown starter wire. I did not have to buy new battery cable. I don't have headers, so your results may vary

Just be careful that the main battery cable does not touch the block when attached, it's a very close fit back there, less than a 1/4" space between block and cable end on my cars

Many use D&B's mini sold on eBay. It's fully new and warranted.

You can get a terminal relocation kit for the starters with the top terminals.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I've used this brand of mini-starters, which didn't require much tweaking. Firefighter Ron encouraged me to give this place a try and so far so good:

I ended up getting one from Mancini Racing.  I have no idea who makes it but it fit fairly well.  Doesnt hit the block and only need a small dimple in one header tube for clearance.  The terminals are on top which isn't as bad to me as that they are close together so I have to modify the molded terminal end.

What do you have for headers ? I have Hookers and they clear the starter but hit most everything else.

I had 1 3/4 hedmans on my 383 and they cleared the monster stock starter with no dings. Others have said they dont fit. Seems to vary from car to car.

Ghoste

Indeed.  These same headers cleared my big oem starter with the same engine so there you go.
