Urethane Drivetrain Bushings and Driveability

I know the feelings on them as far as suspension but are many people really using these for engine and transmission mounts?  Would they not lead to harsh feeling shifts, interior noise and vibration?

never thought about it till you mentioned it !  & never knew they were available for our cars ! well never thought of looking ! I know we are talking about engine & gearbox   mountings  ! I would imagine though it would be kind of the same feeling as going from a 70 series tire to a 45 series.
I think every mechanical motion vibration rotational harmonics will be felt exaggerated  through the gear stick / shifter  transferred  through out the whole car to a greater or lesser extent ! IMO would not bother , quality  rubber mounts  are cheap enough  , just replace them as & when , just have some type of torque strap or chain on driver side

I went from stock to solid motor mounts with a poly trans mount and noticed no difference in the "feel" of the car. As a 4 speed car, the shifting improved going to solids, and the shifter handle vibrated with the rubber mounts.

Same here, poly EVERYTHING, motor mounts, tranny mounts, suspension, nice firm ride, no vibration, no "rolling/torquing over" of the manual shifter when blasting thru the gears, handling greatly improved...I generally prefer to build my customers rides and my personal rides using poly through out.... the sloppy mushy OEM rubber components are best left for trailer queens

Just throwing it out there - I vote for rubber.

I was comparing mine to new rubber. And if you are one of the guys that drills and bolts your rubber mounts- they are not really rubber mounts anymore.

I wasn't trying to point at you specifically with that quote.  

I've gotten in the habit of pointing out that apples-to-oranges comparison issue when people are talking about chassis bushings. 


I'm a fan of rubber drivetrain mounts (and chassis bushings) for street cars.  Just my opinion.

I had solid mounts on my race car, and didn't notice any harshness, and that was in 24 hour endurance races, but I wasn't worrying about comfort at the time.
