Converting power brakes to manual

Hi Guys
I have been hearing from a couple of guys lately that are converting power brakes to manual. Is that really a thing? My master cylinder is leaking and they say the stock disk up front and drum in the rear is enough to stop the car great.  They say the weight loss is huge and very advantageous. Are they nuts or is this common? Seems backwards to me.

I pulled booster, Z linkage and backing plate for a swap to manual. I assume you mean your booster is leaking not master cylinder. Done as a test I'm keeping manual.

Booster leaks vacuum.. master leaks fluid.. which is it??

get a new master cylinder...it's the same between power and manual brakes....

if you want manual brakes, you will need the correct firewall plate, the correct manual brake push rod, plus removal of all the z-bar linkage under the dash.

Manual brakes and power drum are the same master, not disc brake.

Yes it has better "Feel". Boosted is overpowered and too sensitive. If your master leaks it's an easy swap out for new and cheaper. Boosters are $$.

The other option of course is to rebuild the master. Pretty simple to disassemble, hone lightly and install the guts. I got my kit off Amazon amazingly for $28  and believe I showed the process in my Bee restoration thread.

Ok. I will probably just find a new somewhat stock looking master. Interesting that the manual brakes have a better feel but I guess it makes sense; like power/manual steering.
