Edelbrock jet kits vs Carter?

I keep hearing that Edelbrock jets will work and then will not work in a Carter AFB.

I need to rejet my carbs but everyone around here just doesn't seem to remember the Carter AFB's and nobody has a clue where to get kits.
Even the guys I've dealt with for 25 years ( Frank Edwards Co) don't seem to know anything since the guys who actually knew anything have retired.

So, will an Edelbrock jet fit in a Carter or if not, where can I get Carter jets?  It seems like when I called Jegs or Summit they told me that the Carter parts were out of stock\back ordered. Haven't tried PAW yet, would rather go locally if possible since I'll surely be running back and forth getting parts.

They stopped making Carter Carbs about 4 or 5 years ago, Edelbrock does use same stuff though.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

The Carter kits 10-201 are all over ebay.  Yes, they'll work.

How can anybody not remember the Carter AFB?  That was THE performance carb at one time.

IMHO they still are in the running for a THE peformance carb in their range and especially for street blower use but that's a whole other thread.

Also, not to offend any particular age group but the parts shops are now staffed by teenagers most of whom think that performance comes from Honda, stickers, huge guages and NAWWWS. :rotz:

They have no idea what a  AFB, AVS Thermoquad, or Quadrajet even is!

How very true--and they think the new corvette is the best car ever. But we were all young once so lets give them a break. Edelbrock has a very nice carb now call the thunder series avs, its too bad they cost between $330-$400, then $65 for the calibration kit.

I'll cut them slack but only for being brain damaged.

At least when I was a teenager the choice was Mopar, Ford or GM and let's face it, all of which are at least real cars, we did our own work on them and not slap a ton of stickers and gaudy plastic neon colored shit and few were the circus clown cars that I see today.
Any dumbass poser with brain damage can pull his pants down off his ass, bolt a 30 gallon drum to his exhaust and slap a table on the back end of his mom's car.

Aww damn it! Now you got me going!!    ;D ;)

But when we were young look at all the great old cars we could buy for a few hundred bucks. My buddy got a 4 door 1970 Ford Ltd with a 428 or 429 I forget for $500 back in 84. It was great, he dump the exhaust off and changed the carb. remember beaning in there with 5 other guys going 120 mph down the freeway. Those were the days, and it had a cable driven speedometer not a electronic one that keeps going up even when the car speed is not.
