Modified k-frame?

Im slowly working my way forward through my Charger to fix stuff from previous owners, some suprises include missing luggage support beams, wrongly positioned console brackets thats bolted onto the drive shaft tunnel etc.

Now I removed the headers and steering box and noticed a hole in the K-frame, I also noticed that the engine mount had been cut a bit.

Why would anyone cut a hole there?

You'll, probably, never know why those mods were made.  The console brackets may have been moved to mount a different year or even make console.  The motor mount may have been trimmed so a different stearing box could fit.  As for the hole in the K frame

Yeah, they def meddled with the steering box.
When I removed the box I noticed the bolts were so loose that I could unscrew them with my fingers.

And I have been doing 110 mph in this thing...

Well, box is now at Firm feel for a st3 rebuild.
