This guy is getting exactly what he wants, more and more attention from doing what he did which is priceless to any dollar amount he could have gotten for his car.  And every time someone else posts, it just adds to the reason he did it.  Let's see him do it to a fully restored 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible. won't happen but to a few thousand dollar charger,  he's now famous, And it's all because of us.  :brickwall:

Bingo.   Every swinging-dick car site has picked it up.   He has won the internet.

Yeah but there is such a thing as bad publicity.  (Just ask Michael Jackson or Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby.)  This guy is now famous for being an asshole.

Hopefully he will get the same Darwin Award he gave the Charger!

But what will the attention get him? I don't think he's smart enough to capitalize on it. If he couldn't figure out how to clean it up so it would present better (and sell), then he won't know how to capitalize. Let's not act like he has a strategy...he's just an emotional guy.

What could you gain by "capitalizing" a destruction of a 2nd Gen Charger.  Nothing.

My point exactly. Others seem to be implying that he will leverage this notoriety into something (social media followers perhaps?) , but you can't leverage stupid. There is nothing to capitalize/leverage.

I agree, there is a lot of spoiled child going on here but not much narcissism.  This is just someone who isn't as smart as he thought he was.  Based on what its reported he paid for it and what he was asking and what was offered, it couldn't have been much of a car to start with.  Be interesting to know the story from some of the "lowballers".

its no secret i'm a second generation charger nut !  am also  interested  in the first generation & third generations too , & would have many of various models & years if I had the money & space & I was 20 again ;)
I made a comment in the other post about the idiot crushing his 70 charger , saying think he done it as click bait etc
  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,136437.0.html

while I hate to see any charger / mopar or any muscle car destroyed save them all !!, this 70 charger  is a lot lot worse than it looks on film ( & it looks pretty bad ), think it would take the whole AMD cataloge  &  year one / classic industries to fix , plus if you cant do the work your self your looking at least 25 k labour rate in metal work alone . imo to take on a car like this charger would have to be able to buy it for almost nothing , be able to do everything that's involved with a nut & bolt restoration your self & just pay for the parts etc  then after 3 -10 years your have a charger to enjoy , if you cant do the work your self  , your prolly going to pay  more than 50 k  to get it done half decent job done ( course there are always variables ), imo its easy for the lesser informed to get up side down with a charger like this ! think its easy like on TV programs !!   to spend big time on parts cart the charger round to various fly by night body shops that have let them down or worse , then end up putting the remains unfinished on ebay  completely disillusioned financially broke.

this is not something I normally do commenting on someones behaviour I don't know or if its not affecting me &  everyone to their own etc  the Guy who owned  that 70 charger its acting like   spoilt child , & had/has not mentally developed since the age of 4 , like I mentioned before I know how annoying it is dealing with idiots when selling stuff &  it does wind you up, but  now you have just made your self a idiot in front of the whole world ! well done good job !
if you look at the pictures / video , regardless  what BS you hear on the video , only thing I can see is a front grill bumper  marker lights glass. nuts bolts few suspension parts brackets . think that charger was done for many years  before it was crushed,  & was just on borrowed time before going to the big junk yard in the sky.    :Twocents:  I recon that this said 70 charger was  something like the charger in this video below , before it had a quick bondo / matt paint primer job done to sell on to another lesser informed buyer  :Twocents:

There are people right here on this site, who have saved far worse Chargers than that 70.

Ghoste

Yes but not many have the body work skills or pockets deep enough to save it if it that one was a rotted project car.  Further to that, its less about could the car have been saved than were his expectations too high for what he was selling?

tan top

yes ! whats being asked for a said project charger is too  much ! still think 1-2 thousand for a  project XP /XH  charger  with a title  needing everything is plenty. its only the fact you have soo many different avenues of free/ almost  advertising today people can stick a stupid price on a pile of shrapnel & someone some where will fall for it ! yes I know these cars are not being made anymore , but you got to be realistic buy a charger for 8k & by the time your done stripping it down for a resto prolly more than 50 percent of the  metal is cut away  laying in a rusty pile of the floor , same with interior parts , just reusing seat frames , makes me laugh when I see ebay adverts showing a rotted out charger that needs everything with all the destroyed interior trim pieces laid  out , in a way that's saying  look its all there etc  door & rear quarter trim torn bowed ripped moldy distorted ! like anyone is going to reuse that . i'm not  even including electrical mechanical parts etc  !! still everyone to their own good luck to the sellers & buyers alike , I just think its crazy whats being asked !  think if there was no internet , prices would be a lot cheaper for some models
.  the mentality to some sellers / flippers or .. is  ! if a  100 point gold winner   69 Daytona sells at mecum auction for $225k today, my rotted out pile of shrapnel that once was a XH 318 charger than needs every thing in the amd catalog  no engine or trans floor or frame rails   , is worth 8k tomorrow ! if they had to pay for advertising like the old days , & the lesser informed potential buyers  would realise bringing one of these cars back to life , is not as easy & as quick as they make out of TV shows  the prices would soon come down imo .

The days of buying a Charger project in the 1 to 2 grand range have been gone since Y2k. The market has determined that.  I am not saying that someone cannot score a project Charger in that range from a seller who is not up on the current market, but most project Chargers start in the 5 grand these days, and decent ones start around 10k. I recently sold a 70 Charger project car over 8 grand in the same condition as the one that was crushed by this clown. I also sold a 68 Charger roller, with no nose or interior recently for 5 grand, so I am up on the current market value of these cars, and what they are changing hands for. This guy wanted 10k for a $7500.00 car,and flipped his shit when that didn't happen. Had he made a little effort, and primed the car all one color, and put a decent set of wheels on it,he would have got 10 grand for the car on e bay!

Not to mention that if he was relying on the free listing services such as Craigslist, he was fishing around in what is basically just an online yard sale.  If that was the case, he no doubt did get some ridiculous lowball offers.  Its part of the process.

Someone should have saved this car. What an idiot. Wonder what his asking price was as to why he couldn't sell it? It probably deserved to be in the delusional charger sellers post....
