My 69 Charger has the same crack to.  :shruggy:

My body man is 63 years old and he said the b-bodies were notorious for cracking there. He said he fixed quite a few back in the day.  Never really said why just figured it was flex in the unibody.

check for worn door hinge pins or door out of alignment  , does the door drop when you open it ?

They both have some sag  in them. I suspect that the crack is caused when the door has a sag and the owner closes it over and over again. How is this fixed, besides new hinges, just grind and weld the crack? Has anyone done this.

I have also seen it more so on GM's. Hinge pin bushings. You do not realize that the door is shutting harder. Then you look. I had to fix the jam on the drivers side of my car.

replace the hinge pins or get a set of rebuilt originals  , ( would never use repop hinges )
yes weld ! removed lock /latch ,  clean up to good clean shiny metal both sides if you can.
with a small drill bit, drill  end / ends of the crack to stop crack spreading, then weld it up!  then  finish in normal way filler / primer / top coat  what ever it needs .

That is a good tip. I never hear of drilling to stop the crack. Do you use that technique on all thicknesses of steel that has cracked? Or light gauge?

Thanks tan. I have heard about the repop ones and them being no good. Guess I need two sets now. Or rebuild these myself.
