This is why I started cutting some of my project cars loose. I have sold off about 10 cars in the last few years, and will probably sell off about  10 more.  As much as I thought I could build every one of them, the reality is that it is not going to happen so I will pass them on to someone who will.

The auto blog title should read as follows, whining crybaby douche flipper destroyed classic Dodge Charger because he's a dick!

1970 Daytona Charger SE "clone" (440/Auto)
1967 Charger (360,6-pak/Auto)
2008 Challenger SRT8 BLK (6.1/Auto) 6050 of 6400

I think he was not a car guy. He was talking to one of the scrappers and I thought I heard him say he graduated from Harvard. Don't think money is his issue. He is a condescending attention seeking dick head. I also heard someone mention that if he could get a hold of another desirable classic muscle car he would do it again just for spite. So courageous. How would you like to be his neighbor or have a daughter who brought him home to meet you. He must be delight.

I have 2 2nd gen chargers for sale at the moment. In the last couple of weeks, I have had people asking if I would take payments (One of them questioned why I wouldn't, when I politely declined), I had one individual offer 1k on a car that I am asking near 15k for, I had another individual tell me that my car was their dream car that they always wanted, then offer me less than half of what I was asking with the intention to "take real good care of her," I have had assertive offers that were low acting like they were doing me a favor by making a low offer. I had one person win the high bid, only to stop communicating immediately after auction end and then start asking more questions about the car once relisted; when I told them we were done, they replied that they were sorry that I felt that way, but they were still interested.

I share the guys frustration, but crushing the car is like flushing money down the toilet. :Twocents:

The only place to sell a second generation Charger project car is E bay. I have had one for sale on all the sites with no buyers. I sold one last year on Ebay, qiuckly, for more than I wanted for it,and the money was in my account the same day. When I finish getting mine ready,it's going on E bay.

The world is full of these people   :rots:

But is it any worse than they guy who lets one rot in his back yard for 30 years?

Great point, and No.  :Twocents:

chargervert

Yes there is a difference, one guy is holding onto his dream, and this guy is crushing someone elses dream! He is just a whining flipper who would crush a classic Mopar because he didn't get the greedy profit money he was hoping for. He's nothing more than a greedy shitbag flipper!

i can understand with  getting peed off with time wasters , idiots , crazy people, scamers etc  anyone who has tried to sell stuff has been a victim of these people ! my self included & yes it does make you mad after the third or fourth or time waster    think today for every genuine interested caller or low baller or flipper  there are 2 or 3 nutters , of course think its what your trying to sell has a lot to do with it too

its the sign of the times IMO, problem lies with the internet smart/ I phones  etc every one has access to the internet ! 25 - 30 years ago ! if  someone wanted to buy a charger or ... they would have to buy hemmings  local  paper  visit swap meets car shows  , word of mouth through clubs &  keeping a look out in your local town etc ...& the guy looking to buy was actually really after buying one & would not been looking if they did not have the money !! the person seeking would have to physically go out their way to find / look for cars etc , now fast forward to the advent to internet smart / iphones  , any one can have access to search for anything just on a fantasy trip / being drunk / off their head on drugs , some form of mental illness even in prison or an mental asylum  they have internet & can search for chargers & waste time  day dreamers  or even have more sinister motives  what i'm trying to say anyone can access forsale ads  phone up to look at a car today, with out costing them anything or going out their way !  can do it with out going out the house  , unlike 30 years ago they were prolly more of a genuine perspective buyer who inquired about a car .. cause there are variables in everything , not sure if i'm making much sense ,  :P   :scratchchin:

All of what you said contributes to more flakes and lowballs.   But, so many times when you see an add where they are ranting about lowballers, the price is uassually insane not the offer.

A couple of years ago, I happened across a CL ad for Mustang taillights ( I touched the wrong line).  The guy was having a tantrum and threatening throw them in the trash if someone didn't pay his price.   (Always makes me think of the sheriff in Blazing Saddles)

Then a friend found a boat in a field, fiberglass, but an unusual model.  It was a basket case and not a boat that people restore and show or has any real value.   You had to be real boat geek to even appreciate it, let alone own it, not to mention restore it.    The guy refused a $1k offer for his $200 boat and said he'd scrap it for anything less than $10k.
He scrapped it!

I think the crazy is coming from the sellers.  As Ghoste mentioned before,  it's a tantrum because things aren't going the way they want.

In NO WAY am condoning what was done to the seller in the video destroying his 70 Charger.

I remember when I bought my 69 Charger a few years ago. It was a craigslist add with lots of photo's, and knew the price was very good. I called and the seller and he started off by saying the price was firm. I said "no problem", I just need 5 minutes and if I want it I will buy it. I looked at the car for less than 5 minutes and handed over the cash. He looked like he was surprised.

After we got the car loaded up he told me the horror stories of how people wasted his time by lowballing him after he clearly stated in add and over the phone the price was firm. Its not that hard. When a seller says firm on price he means it. If you want it pay the Man/Woman, if not walk away.

Kern Dog

I am a sellers dream.
If I like what they are selling and the price is fair, I pay the price. It isn't because I am rolling in cash, it is because despite my smart ass demeanor and the tendency to enjoy annoying people, I am a realist when it comes to buying and selling.

I sell at swap meets occasionally. I set what I think are fair prices on my parts. When I sell a car on ebay, I set a reserve that is my lowest amount that I am comfortable taking. I do get the stupid offers on stuff. I have often had solid comebacks to say to them:
That price is about average.
If YOU were selling it, what would YOU ask for it?
Are you saying that it isn't worth the price that I am asking?
I'd like to sell it but I am not desperate. What do you think is a fair price?

Stringbender

Man that is HARD to watch! Was touched on earlier but it's not unlike an ultra fast lime lapse of a guy who let's one (or more!) rot away to nothing, refusing to sell. Just awful to watch it happen all at once like that though. Any idea where this guys at? I'd love to take a few days off work an menace his ass mercilessly in my car! I can't think of anyone more deserving to experience the unsettling feeling of being unable to get a third gen out of their rear view mirror.....

P.s. I'm with you Kern Dog, can't remember the last time I tried talking somebody down. If I don't like their price or I don't have the cash. I just don't bother with it.

chargervert

My friend bought a 70 Challenger vert off a guy that everybody was lowballing by half his asking price. I brought my trailer, and he brought a fair cash offer, and laid the cash out on the fender, and we left with the car. That is the right way to buy a Mopar, bring the cash and a trailer!

Stringbender

Haha yah you're absolutely right. If the seller is clear in their ad that they'll take "Best offer". I'll certainly make an offer After going to see their car/parts etc. What I meant by not bothering is. If a guy is asking 10K for 74 duster parts car.

How I ended up typing Third Gen instead of SECOND Gen...I'll never know!? Was a long day, an I wasn't in my right mind after watching that Tool crush that car!

That's how I got my 59 Cadillac.  Posted on a forum for dirt cheap, while everyone was asking if the engine turned over or "call for my best offer" I said I'm on my way, will give you asking price and handle getting the car out of there.

Guy was getting a ton of interest but it went to me because I made it easy for him.

This guy with the Charger is just a complete asshole.  Could have ran it on ebay no reserve.

This guy is getting exactly what he wants, more and more attention from doing what he did which is priceless to any dollar amount he could have gotten for his car.  And every time someone else posts, it just adds to the reason he did it.  Let's see him do it to a fully restored 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible. won't happen but to a few thousand dollar charger,  he's now famous, And it's all because of us.  :brickwall:
