Lot #1369 - This is one of 503 known Dodge Charger Daytonas produced in the early summer of 1969 to be legal in time for the very first NASCAR race at Talladega, which the body style won handily. This was one of the street versions sold to the public that year. Shipped new to Brook Hurst Dodge in Garden Grove, CA, on August 25, 1969, this rare Dodge had a comprehensive rotisserie refreshing completed in 2012. It retains its original 440ci Magnum engine with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. Behind the original engine is the correct date-coded automatic transmission. This car received the Performance Axle Package, which included a Sure-Grip equipped 3.55:1 rear for street-strip manners. It is equipped with power steering and brakes with front discs, black vinyl interior featuring bucket seats and center console, as well as a Thumbwheel solid-state radio and in-dash tachometer and clock. While Daytona's came in all R/T colors, this version wears the popular Bright Red, which covers the unique aero nose cone, special front fender air extractors and everything else, except for the high-rise black rear wing. The final option was the extra-cost styled road wheels and red line tires, a perfect complement to the body color.

Good catch.   It may have had one installed at the time of sale.     

The house makes good money on these.    10 percent added to the hammer for the buyer.    8 percent charged to the seller.   So the seller gets $230.    Still a really strong number.

Every time I see a Daytona in this color combination, I wonder if it's the one I had a crack at back in the early 90's. If only I had the foresight back then to write down the VIN back then.

I knew of this car in 1985. It has been in and Canada. It is just a pity that the true story of the car gets lost , or forgotten or left out. Warning is do your homework before buying.

Barrett was a bit of a let down on other cars. They were selling fire damaged , insurance writeoffs that were rebuilt and an unknown person was making statements to validate the cars that it must of been just soft good damage from fire. I think that fire and heat did more damage that just the weatherstrip. And no pictures of the damage.

Are you saying the red Daytona was previously fire damaged?

I believe the fire damage car that is being referenced was the 69.5 Lift-off hood Road Runner that sold for $90K.  I think the lot number on the Road Runner was 1293 possibly.

Car was hit hard like a T-bone many years ago. It looks good but I could see wrinkles in the cowl on driver's side area. I had pics that the rocker panel  was bad enough that it was punched into the trans tunnel.

I see this car has a wooden shifter knob. I've seen Daytona's with the chrome tulip knob. It was my understanding that Daytonas, oddly, came with the tulip.

Is there a "correct" knob for a Daytona or did the come with both knobs?
