HI, I'm new to this board, I  wandered onto here through this particular thread.
I'm sure, you all probably know this, or this person or car might not be famous enough but over here in England, is the 67 Hemi  Charger, called Lawman, driven by Al Eckstrand and he also lives here about 6 months of the year. He came to the mopar euronats about 2 years ago and i spoke to him at length, he was a real down to earth guy.
If anyone's interested, i might have some pics of him and the car somewhere.

Welcome to the site!

Ghoste knows a lot about the drag racers from back in the day, maybe he has heard of the Lawman.   :shruggy:

Either way, post some pics.   :yesnod:

Ghoste

I had an opportunity to get very up close and personal with it this past summer actually.  It has been on display at the Chrysler museum but at the CEMA show this past June, they rolled it outside onto the lawn for us to crawl around.  The High and Mighty II was out there and the concept Challenger too.
Ekstrands Charger is amazingly stock when you get close to it.
Mike, do you have any pics of it racing?

6pkrunner

I know I have three, if not four, articles on Al and the Lawman cars over Al's career. And there are a few shots of the Charger losing a lot of mileage of the rear meats. I thought I had some of them on disc, but I cannot find them. I'll have to dig out the articles.

6pkrunner

Well until I come across the articles (or discs) here's a couple of recent shots of the Lawman in its Charger format.

Brock Samson

i guess your pics are better then mine.. sigh...  :-\

HI Ghoste
I will see what pics i can dig up, i've got a pic of us from 2 years ago, he has got one of the new Mustangs now, he was telling me how he became an attorney for Chrysler, hence the Lawman name and i believe he had some association with the Ramchargers.
BTW, a friend local to me has got a 70 Charger 440 RT, I dont know if he posts on here or not.
It seems a real shame, that Dick Landy acts the way he does now, i'm sure he could learn quite a lot about respecting his fans from some of the other drivers.
Mike

Ghoste

He still sounds friendlier than Warren Johnson.  There was a pic recently in the Chrysler Museum magazine I think (and I can't even remember the name of the mag now) that had a frontal view of Eckstrand's Charger driving out of a big burnout.  At least I think that's where I saw it.

Troy....good catch forgot about that one. There is also the "made in usa" vs "made somewhere else" debacle.

Oh and my favorite. Someone somewhere finally starts reproducing a part that has been unavailable for decades and they get grief for only being 99.87% accurate because apparently that matters to the majority driving non 100 point/OEM Gold cars.

There is a pic in the MCG, May 06 on page 15. Landy is actually standing in front of the car. Funny I wouldn't have noticed if it weren't for this thread
Work in progress...

Ghoste

I think that's the 69 car in MCG.  It's from a roll of film that Stunkard  says was taken at the 69 AHRA Springnationals so the 70 wouldn't have been out yet.  Landy has his name on the "C" pillar and it doens't look to have Lambecks on that car.  Also it looks like a 69 bumper just in front of Landy but it is admittedly hard to tell.
Also, I mentioned this thread to Stunkard by e-mail back in the end of April beginning of May time frame, and his reply didn't indicate that he had just featured the car in an article for them.  That doesn't mean anything either but I think Landy's name and the Spring of 69 timeline rule out that car as being this 70 Charger.

sites

Thanks for the picture, 6pkrunner, it's printed and in my scrapbook and I'm glad it's back on the thread.

Thanks for all the advice on what to do with the car. I think I will keep it unless I get a good enough offer. Come on, you know you'd do the same. Barrett-Jackson may fetch the highest price, but it would probably need to be restored to pristine condition first. This may require an investment of up to $100,000. I could do this, but I don't think it's worth the gamble and I know I don't have the time. I hear it may also take up to 3 years to have one of the top shops do it. If I sell, I think it'll be as-is. I've already had offers, but I don't think I should accept any until the Mopar Muscle article comes out. The article was originally just for fun and to share the car, but it's about the only exposure the car will get besides this website. I think it might be cool to accept a restored car as part of a trade. It would have to be a driver though or I'd be back in the same situation I'm in now. Thanks again to everyone for the help and interest. This website and Carlisle, at least on Sunday, are the most fun I've had with the car.

I think Mikesmopars01 had the right idea.

If you are selling, I think the whole board should get together and buy it, and we can keep it at my house.

It would be all of ours of course.

What do you guys think?? :yesnod:

Then I'd know the right thing would be done with it.

You're welcome, but if this was the most fun you've had with the car, I have a suggestion to make the fun factor go way up.  Well, it might be more fun for me anyway. :icon_smile_wink:

Glad to hear you're keeping it for now.

Actually, that would only open up the proverbial "can-o-worms from hell".
A couple years ago, a member here donated an extremely rough 68 Charger to couple of other members (who live in very close proximity of each other ;D ) with intentions of restoring it as an official DC.com car & inviting the rest of us members to donate parts & money as they saw fit...only as they saw fit, not demanding money & parts in any way.
The road to restoration has been slow, as life has taken a temporary detour in the plans. As a result, a while ago, a member who was unaware of the detour made some ill-placed remarks & took personal pot shots at the members doing the resto. After being set straight (& enduring a good bit of chastizing from the rest of the throng here :icon_smile_wink: ) the instigator left the site for a long time, with his feelings hurt.

In a nutshell, concerning an item with this size of dollar value, I feel it would only serve to bring out the worst in some people on this site. You should just keep it as your car. ;)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
