AND TAKE PLENTY OF PICS AT CARLISLE W? DANDY DICK!!!!!

sites

We kind of got the car cleaned up and ready for Carlisle. We didn't do too much because we wanted everything to stay original. We took some pictures, too. The interior was mildewed. Check out the before and after in the picture of the rear seat. It cleaned up really well and looks practically new. The rear springs, I think, are super stock. There are 6 on one side and 7 on the other. The shackles are offset. I don't know if that was normal on all Chargers or if this was done to fit bigger tires. The slicks are over 14 inches wide. We already posted a picture of the faded outline of Dick Landy's name on the car. When we were washing the car, we found the faded outline of Bob Lambeck's name. You can see it over the Charger emblem on the sides of the car behind the rear windows. You may have noticed, we haven't shown any pictures of the front of the car. It has some minor damage from a towing accident and we didn't want it to distract from the overall impression of the car. There's also a picture for "Chicks on Chargers"  :o lol.

Ghoste

Thanks for sharing all those pics.

THE CHARGER PUNK

TruckDriver

I think it's a Hurst Dual Gate.  BTW, did you notice the pedals?

THE CHARGER PUNK

looks like it used 2 be a 4-spd car as most dodge s/s cars start out as, i.e. jack and jennings superbird(tach, radio delete and used 2 be a 4-spd car)

THE CHARGER PUNK

They still make the hurst dual gate shifter(NEW),(looks like the one from the DL 70 Charger was originally from a 66/67 gto shifter due to the woodgrain on the console top, i looked at the new plastic consoles on the new hurst dual gate shifters and the plastic console itself is tiny in comparison to the old style one in this car, Does anyone know where to get the old style 60's/70's (hurst dual gate shifter) plastic console itself???,does anyone repop these besides hurst? Were they by any chance a non-hurst console???, popular for aftermarket shifters???. Any information would be greatly appreciated-MATT

1st pic 67 Hurst dual gate shifter(shifter and console top identical as seen in DL 70 charger)

2nd pic The New hurst dual gate shifter(in comparison the actual plastic console itself is TINY to the one seen in the DL 70 car)

Now my question would be, did Landy convert it or someone later on?  Dick generally preferred to run an automatic but what about Lambeck?  I notice the one contingency sticker is for an trans place other than B&M and Dick was a pretty loyal customer for B&M.  Did Lambeck run a four speed and someone added the auto later on?  Or all just a bunch of coincidence?

Mikesmopars01

That had to have been added later.

What about the engine?

Charger_Fan

Great pics! It sure looks better all cleaned up. :icon_smile_cool:

looks like it used 2 be a 4-spd car...
I'd be more inclined to think it started life as an automatic, just going by the shift on the fly steeering column in this pic.
I'm betting someone just did a pedal swap down the line sometime. BTW, those pedal pads almost look as if they were an automatic pad that was cut in half! :scope: :ahum:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Ghoste

Aha, good eye.  I was looking at the floor and there was more evidence up top.

ChargerHound69

That is a good eye.  I was also looking at just the pedels.

Man that car looks great.  I can not believe it sat there for so long.

694spdRT

There is no 4 spd floor hump either so I would go with an automatic car as well. The dash reverse light indicator is missing too but, the guages are in about the same spot.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

THE CHARGER PUNK

so i suppose this car was a clutchflite???

Ghoste

I doubt it.  I don't Landy was ever a big clutchflite endorser.  I'd bet the owners after Dandy Dick could shed some light on it to be sure though.

blackcharger

any first hand reports on how the meeting went? From what's posted on moparts, doesn't sound like Dick landy was too impressed.

I don't know much about this landy guy, but he sounds like he might be a real J...O..!!!
He probably doesn't want to authenticate the car because his ego is telling him it would be worth a ton more money with his name on it.  I got news for him, his name is already on it and so is the driver's.  You ought to get a hold of some magazine companies and let them hound him like rabid dogs.  I'd bet your paycheck that car is real.  who would wanna fake something like that.  it's just too perfect not to be real..tell this landy dude to get off his horse, cause his name don't really mean anything to me, except he was a drag racer/owner who drove the right manuf of cars . that car is still awesome and is definitely worth alot of loot so please don't take my post any different.  Just ranting about the landy dude, that's all.  I hope he comes around and tells you what we all already know.  Good Luck.

Yep, sounds like his parents had a little insight when they named him "Dick" or "Richard Head" if you prefer......................
