Very cool ride sites, even better that it has been in storage for so long instead of outside rotting away like so many others.

Well, with his close friend and in private, Galen may also enjoy the hobby but believe me, for the rest of us, he's all about the business too.  I don't want to get into a pissing match about Galen but in this case, the cars pedigree is what it's real value is.  Many many people can verify its authenticity as a Hemi car and its reached a point where having a "Galen certified" Hemi car almost doesn't seem to matter (thats not a slam on him but an illustration that people buy anything Hemi without care or fear).
Only one person can verify if its a Dick Landy car and whether hes a grump or not, I'd rather pay for his stamp of approval in this case.

Yep....that is the burning issue here.....money spent getting the appropriate documentation grom GG won't be wasted though. Ultimately, this car is gonna be worth a lot of money whether it is "just" a Hemi car, or an ex Dick Landy car...either way, having the correct paperwork will do it no harm if and when it finally ends up in Barret Jackson's auction house..

I just learned that Dick Landy is supposed to be in Carlisle in July. That's not too far from me, I think I'll try to trailor the car up and see if I can get him to take a look at it.

I'd leave it right where it is and offer him a plane ticket instead.  A small investment (invitation to your home, plane ticket, put him up in a nice hotel for the night and treat him to a great steak dinner) would be wise move.

Good luck.

Wow what a great find!!!
I love those as found pics! I am sure a car like that would draw more attention in that state as apposed to being fully restored.

It's not that I'm a mistrustful soul...but If you put that thing on a trailer, when you stop to answer natures call, you are gonna come out of the gents and find a greasy towball on the back of your truck with nothing on it....and a Ram 3500 disappearing into the distance with your trailer on the back.  Most people, even non Mopar people will see value in that motor....my 2 cents

You might want to invest in a phone call right now to try and set something up for when he's on the other coast.

Here is a interesting tid bit. I work with a guy who is older (50s), and also a retired racer. I told him today about this car, and the fact that it seems no one can recall actually seeing this car run at a track. As I told him, Everets eyes got REAL big, and he said "I remember that car, it was a '70 R/T Charger right?" I said yes, He said "I remember that car when it ran at WIR (Wisconsin International Raceway) way back" "I remember it making at least 2 passes down the track". I asked him if he was sure it was a '70 Charger. He said "positive". Everet is a Mopar nut too, so I know he knows his Mopars. So, you can take that for what you want.

I talked with Reed Keoppe, a local Mopar guy who's big into old race cars, and he also confirms this is one of the 70 Chargers that Landy raced.

I'm not sure that's a DLi car or not, it's not prepped like the other 68/9's I've seen. No pin-on decklid, no tri-bar center caps, no writing on the doors, I don't see a large "Dodge Charger" on the quarter, etc.  However, other stuff is consistent, like the pinstriping, wheel lip mouldings, wiper & sideview mirror delete.

Even if it isn't a Dick Landy car, I'd sell my roommate's house to buy it.  That's undeniably awesome.  Nice car, man.  Wash it once and leave it. :D

OK....I was browsing through a vintage car magazine the other day.....and there were TWO pictures of this very car!

Now, the question is...what magazine was it? I've been pouring through the stack I have in front of me...and I'm still looking....
But rest assured, when I find it....it'll be scanned and posted!!

........now back to the stack..........OH GOD!!

I'm pretty sure this is the car...even though the decals are in different locations on the front fender, there is no driver's side mirror if you look closely.

That could be the other 70 Charger Landy ran.  He had 2, I've been told.

Thats the photograph I had seen with the door scoops painted silver, breaking up Landys usual paint job. It really makes the car stand out from the 68-69 Chargers that he raced. I also saw a photo of this car taken from the passengers side too.

I see from that pic that the other car he is racing is my own hometown boy Barrie Poole.  I'll get over this weekend and see if the Sandy Elliott crew have any other pictures from that event that show Landy's car.

This is just getting more and more interesting.....
