Wow Sites, that's awesome to hear you still have the car.  That'll be one more reason for me to sit around and mope all weekend when I'm not at Carlisle.  :bawling:

70charger_boy

Yeah sites, I have to commend you for still having the car.  Most people would have sold it as soon as jolly Dick died

Charger_Fan

Thanks for the update Sites, it sounds like it will be much more presentable this year.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Hi guys. I planned on cleaning up the car last weekend and taking some pictures, but I got sidetracked. I thought I'd try to get the engine running, but it turned out to be more work than I could get done before the show this weekend. We did replace the damaged front bumper and reinstalled the original grille. We also got the hood somewhat straightened out and it fully closes and latches now. I've been working on the brakes and I plan to pull the car out and clean it up on the 4th. Then I'll try and take some pictures and get them posted before we leave for Carlisle on Thursday. Again, if any of you make it to Carlisle this weekend, please stop and say hi. I owe a lot to DodgeCharger.com and look forward to meeting some members.

Any chance you'll be dragging it to Columbus next month?

This may have been asked and I missed it or something, but are the 68 & 69 Landy Chargers still around?  Or the 68 Coronet R/T?

Chris G.

Nice to know you are making the trip to Carlisle again. Hopefully we can chat on Friday or Saturday.  :2thumbs:

I believe it's a yes on the Chargers, don't know on the Coronet.
There are threads on the 68 and 69 here someplace.

Here's one thread that sounds like the 68 was located but maybe not one the 69 as yet?

Had the chance to meet sites and view the car up close this year. (only saw the tail end view with it inside the trailer last year.) Sites seems like a real good guy, very down to earth and friendly, as well as very appreciative of dodgecharger.com. And the car is quite a time capsule itself.... good luck with whatever direction you decide to go with it, sites!  :2thumbs:

so did any one get any pics of the Charger this year?

Ghoste

Yep, somebody had a pic of the car in one of the Carlisle threads and sites was sitting on a lawn chair behind the car.  It's here in the forum someplace.

Thanks for the pics. It looks a little happier this year, wearing a straight bumper & grille. :icon_smile_cool:

Carlisle was fun. We're already planning on going again next year. We met a few DC.com members. I tried to get the car running before the show, but I waited too long. I pulled the distributor, made a special shaft and drove the oil pump to lube up the engine. When I pulled the valve covers, I found that several valve spring retainers were cracked. I pulled the heads, but didn't have enough time to repair them, so I threw them back on. It would have been nice to drive the car back and forth to the trailer. I also tried to get the brakes working, but there's a fluid leak in the brake line over the rear. Again, not enough time to repair, but the fix should be easy. The car did look better since we installed the replacement bumper and brackets we bought at Carlisle last year. We also straightened the hood a little. We bought a pretty nice replacement hood this year. We also reinstalled the original grille and headlight assembly which had already been removed when we had the towing accident. I hope to have the Hemi built and installed by next year's show. We had a gentleman approach us at Carlisle. I can't recall his name. He said Geoff Stunkard had been photographing the car the previous day. Geoff urged him to come see the car. He invited us to bring the car to the Forge Invitational Muscle Car Show in Tennessee. He showed us the coverage of last year's show in Hot Rod magazine. He said it was also to be covered by ESPN2 this year. We're honored, of course, but just didn't have time to get the car ready. He advised us to just get it running and get the brakes working. We could have a lot more fun with this car if we had more spare time. Rob Wolf, from Mopar Collector's Guide, also stopped by. He asked to photograph the car and do an article on it. Of course, we told him that would be great. They towed the Charger with an ATV and strap over to a hill for a backdrop. He took lots of pictures and then towed it back. I haven't seen it in the magazine yet. I hope he's still gonna do it. My wife was thumbing through some magazines at the store the other day and found a picture of our car in the October issue of Muscle Car Review on page 77. It was one of about nine cars in a brief article on the Carlisle show by Geoff Stunkard.

Cool! It will be great to see it run again :yesnod: :2thumbs:
