Going to change the intake on my engine and header bolts.

-Do I need to drain out the coolant?
-What type of sealant do I use one the intake bolts that reach the oil?

Additional question:  -any good recommendation on heater hose plugs? ( i want to remove the heater hoses from the water pump to the firewall.)

Thanks

Intake manifolds are DRY on big blocks...NO water passages in them. The intake manifold bolts need some type of NON hardening sealant like Permatex Type 2 or some other type. Liquid Teflon maybe?
Header bolts are dry in aftermarket aluminum heads but the iron heads will leak once a header bolt is removed. The threads do go into a water jacket. They need a sealant as well but it needs to be one that is heat resistant.

Thanks
I was thinking to use the permatex ultra copper on the intake bolts and header bolts (I have iron heads, 413 block.)
