Operation Aero HEAVEN bound;
It is with a sad heart I have to report the passing of Ted Janak. Dave B. mentioned this news to me a few days ago and since then, I have been in communication with his son Grant, who has been pretty much the hands-on technician with his Dad's business.. As soon as I get more information I will pass it along.. As it sits now, to honor Ted and his lifelong passion and commitment to the restoration of Winged AeroCars, I'll take my Daytona to the service. I reached out to Julius and he may bring his Superbird. Would be great to have both versions there..  Grant initially as stated he will, once the dust settles, carry on his Dad's legacy...

He and I would talk on the phone numerous times; me calling him, he calling me just to check up on each other talking Mopar, family and about our Christian faith. Ted is a true believer in Jesus Christ. He coached me on numerous things from a Biblical direction, something of which I will forever remember.

Ted's vision along with his family dedication made the parts that put many many many winged warriors back on the road or made winged aero dreams come true with replicas..

God speed Ted and God comfort and support to his family.

When I hear something, I'll let you know.. I think the address on his website is his home address.. I can't recall if Grant lives with him or not, but I'll ask Grant/sister...

Very sad, not even 62.5 years old.
Way too soon to go. Does anyone know his cause of death?
Not trying to pry however if it was preventable maybe it could help someone else down the road.

RIP

That truly sucks. He was a Mopar wing hero. He never even got to collect Social Security.  :brickwall:

I bought some parts from Ted and spoke to him on the phone.  He was a talented craftsman and "word smith".  He did not mind talking to clients.  God Bless and Know he is talking with some Winged Warriors up stairs.

Ted was a great guy, in 1994 Ted flew to oregon and helped me install his Daytona nose and wing on a Daytona i was restoring, he assembled the entire front end, modify the fenders,assembled the headlamp buckets and helped me mount and adjust the entire front end on the car, same with the wing, wing washers and the through the wing cable and trunk mounts as well as the wing brackets, he also supplied me the drawings for the correct trunk hinges which i had made for the car. we had a lot of fun putting everything together and making it all work, the car came out beautiful, Ted was a wealth of information and hands on help. fast forward..... in 2010 Ted again flew to my home to help me install his parts on a Daytona is was building, this time he brought his son, we had a great time Ted installed the rear window plug and helped me assemble and mount the entire front end as well, again he helped me mount the wing and install the cable and truck mounts, we had a great time and talked about how many cars he had worked on built and even back in the day, when superbirds wernt worth too much a few that he had taken parts off of! he even related a sorry about a hemi bird he walked away from due to rust! I always enjoyed talking to him he was a great guy and I had spoken to him about another bird i was restoring about 8 months ago and had planned on going to Spring Tx to visit him< i am sorry I didnt he will be remembered as a good buddy of mine and he will be missed. just a side note the first Daytona Ted helped me with ended up going to Germany and the last one he helped me with ended up going to Austrailia both were very nice cars, the second was a clone but was an absolutely outstanding 100% nut and bolt rotisserie car done perfect black with a red wing very very nice car, Ted thank you so much RIP!
