Is it possible to install a buddy seat in a 69 charger with an auto console?

Is it possible to install a buddy seat in a 69 charger that originally came with an auto console?  I realize that I would need to remove the console and find some sort of boot to cover the shifter, but would the automatic shifter clear the buddy seat?    Thanks for any input.

Yes, a buddy seat will easily clear the shifter. A buddy seat is just as "long" as the driver and passenger seat.

Get a console top from '66 Charger with the armrest on it......best of both worlds!

Would be a good trick but maybe a full console and a second set of buckets mite look quite nice just saying

the deal is more the arm rest than the seat itself? or both ? If just the arm rest feature, as mentioned, a 67 setup ( which doesn't reach the rear bench, so no mods there ) could be a good option

One of my favorite mods I've done to my car. The trouble is finding 66-67 armrest bases in good condition with all the parts.

Got a large family, so was trying to figure out a say to squeeze one more person into the car for the occasional trip to the beach.  The armrest function would just be an added bonus.

Just what I was going to say... a 67 gives you both worlds.......

Yes. The armrest portion of the buddy seat can be installed over the console's stowbox door. I custom made a set of brackets that bolt to the console body and the armrest pivots on them so the stowbox door can open.

You'll need a two pieces of 2" x 1/8" aluminum flat and some skill with a grinder to duplicate the pivots and stops from the seat portion of the buddy seat.

If  he wants the full buddy seat AND the console shift, he's not going to have much choice other than to take a SawzAll to the top plate and housing and remove everything behind thr shifter.
