The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show  :2thumbs:

Another highly successful "Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show" was held again this year at the "Boys Republic" in Chino Hills California on June 1st.  As many of you know, this is where Steve spent some of his "troubled" youth.   His son Chad started the show eleven years ago to help raise funds for the school, the show continues to grow with each passing year.  While the show is not the biggest it is certainly not small by any means.   It offers a nice "Down Home" kind of feel that is missing from your typical parking lot car shows.   This year the show was bigger than ever, and the weather was beautiful.  The show is held on and around the grass of their football field which keeps temperatures down for those displaying, which is nice.   This year's show theme was McQueen's movie "The Towering Inferno" so a half dozen fire trucks were highlighted.  As usually, there were plenty of "Bullitt" Mustangs in attendance.   But, sadly no Black '68 Chargers could be found.  This year had a larger Mopar showing with a '66 Charger, 2 '69 Chargers, several new Hellcat Challengers as well as a couple of SRT Challengers.  The Porsche club had a large display as usually, along with many muscle cars, Hot Rods, and exotics in attendance.  The troupes awarded are all hand made at the ranch by students, using old car parts mounted on beautiful wooden bases...very unique.
The show area is broken down into movie themes from Steve's movies....such as A WWII area ("The Great Escape")complete with military vehicles and three liaison aircraft that flown out of a dirt strip on the property.  (They offered rides in both a glider and a civilian owned Cobra Attack Helicopter during the show).   A race car display ("LeMans"), as well as a dune buggy display on the Sand Volley Ball Court ("The Thomas Crown Affair"), a huge motorcycle display ("On Any Sunday") and a big display from the Airstream Collectors Club.   Plus, a lot more....if you live anywhere close to Southern California it is worth checking out as you will not be disappointed.   Check out their web page for pictures from past shows @ http://stevemcqueencarshow.com  they need more Mopar representation at the show....So mark your calendars.

New Challengers at a car show??? Wow what a shocker.  :smilielol: :smilielol:

Good to see it was a great turn out and for a great cause. There needs to be at least one black '68 Charger.

So yes I agree with v21hemicharger, Keepat needs to make a cameo.
