Appears to have a woodgrain dash cluster

Yeap.. Someone at sometime went SE-happy on the car, changing out the cluster bezel and door panels from a SE

Yeap, I know....... I have a correct one on my current Daytona 426 Hemi... I will replace the cover on it and use it on this original j-code 500. I will use one of these on the Daytona with the correct bracket that Scott Smith reproduces for the 426 Hemi......  :2thumbs:

Today I highlight some Mopar goodies... A big shout-out to Wayne Perkins for giving me the opportunity to attain a NOS rear valance for the 500. Thank you !!! Trying to do the best with the funds I have. Would like to get original end caps at an affordable price..

But with the NOS valance, it will provide a good cornerstone for the corners..
See how I did that?  :icon_smile_big:

Also, Julius came over and sold me a Tony DAgostino restored front sway bar.. Tony, that thing is nice and look forward installing it on a freshly painted car when that day happens in the future. Thank you Julius, saved me shipping costs to and fro...

More progress; that Operation thing called a 500:
Removed fuel lines, fuel tank and rear taillamp assemblies.. Ray Reitz, getting closer. Got seat beats too from Pete. Richard with 500 ****610 will take some pictures of his tags and then I will get a hold it ECS about reproduction tags for the belts with the proper dates..

Well get a hold of Tom really quickly at ECS for your tags / decals. Hopefully things continue to move forward, but who knows what Cindy might do with the place!

Looks like you will have to transfer the wiring clips to the new valance.
I have seen most NOS missing them, for some reason.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Greg stateline had nos valances etc on facebook sold most

I remember paying  $150.00 for an NOS Charger rear valence pan.  The guy had about 25 of them! That was in 1987.

Mopar John

The prices of the correct NOS parts are going up faster than the price of the completed cars!

Dave, that one was a front lower valance for a Daytona, not the standard Charger rear valance..... Big difference... Thanks for checking though.....

Good you mention that.. I was just thinking that yesterday as I was removing the fuel tank, bumper and other stuff in the rear of the car..... Should not be too complicated a task to remove and install.......

I fully expect this thread to be AS detailed or more than Hemigeno's thread with his Daytona. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Jon, it may be as detailed, but as "correct" as Geno's? I don't have that much money nor time.... I won't wiff-wham the car for sure..... I'll push my limits on mopar-skills and be as efficient with the funds I have to do the job....... Plus, Geno told me in other conversations................ Don't do it !!!   :icon_smile_big:

Forgive me Troy, but the car looks like it's in great shape?  Is that the original paint?  Looks like it is more dusty than rusty.

EDIT: I guess with the body-colored tail panel it is not the original paint

No, when Tom found the car in South Carolina at the scrap yard, it was in the process of getting converted to a General Lee, so the car is orange. It should be R4 red. The car was also being converted to a 4speed ( hence the 4speed pedals and hump in the floor pan - too bad, the floor pans overall are in excellent shape ). But, I have a replacement original auto tranny hump area with all the proper console brackets. Should be an easy fix for a skilled sheetmetal man.

The rear is your typical Mopar ( trunk pan, will assess the rear valance and end caps once it is stripped. The rear window plug and original Charger trunk water channels are in great shape too...
