Ignition module, see one here: https://www.yearone.com/Product/chrysler-b-body/fdp505

Ahhhhh, nope....... Chrysler ignition systems were a few years out.... So, it is supposed to have a dual-point Prestolite..... I'll probably go that route initially then have one of my other Prestolites restored, but with a Pertronix gut..

Electronic ignitions were pioneered on DC-93 in the summer of 69.
Had it for the 200 run.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

True, but the production equivalent wasn't put into mainstream assembly until years later....

The 1972 340 engine was the first production use.   :coolgleamA:

It took a few years after 1969 to get all the bugs out.

Oddly enough, emissions were the top reason for the development of electronic ignitions. Performance came along for the ride.
Remember that when points wear, the timing changes! Not good for emissions. Not good for drivability. Not good for performance either!

So, the last 1971 Hemi Charger built has it??  I don't remember seeing a module on the firewall...   Maybe located elsewhere??

I have not seen any evidence that electronic ignition was factory installed on any 1971 HEMI cars

the "last built" '71 HEMI Charger R/T had electronic ignition on it before it was restored & was restored without it - I believe the distributor had a '71 date on it, but was believed to be a Direct Connection part
there is nothing on 1A192238's broadcast sheet to indicate N23 "electronic ignition" - I'll see if I can get a pic of the electronic ignition distributor that was in it for ~40 years  :icon_smile_big:  I would've left it

Look on the bright side.....

It has not turned into a 'Troy-Trade' thread.

As noted many times, was there ever any doubt?

It is what Troy likes to do and that's the only person that has to be happy!  :2thumbs:

Well said.. Seems that people think I'm putting on the brakes on the resto. process... No, actually going to arrange the headliner install soon.. These cars and the ones I like are so few that when opportunities knock, you have to open the door.. Sometimes, you have to CREATE the door, which I have done on occasion. As seen from my very productive past, most things don't pan out... (I'll probably drive this car myself)..... But, who knows...... if I can turn this into a done 4-gear Superbird and a six pack B-body, why not? This what I am doing costs me absolutely nothing...... Nada, zero.....

why go this far & not finish it :shruggy:

Because sometimes the time-window of opportunity on desired cars are narrow......... One has to be ready to act... But, at the end of the day, I still have the 500 and press on as I can..

Why not finish it, looks like all the hard stuff is done, home stretch, wasn't this car for sale before you bought it for $499,999 un-restored, gotta be wotrh more done and it's so close, why bail now, also  :Twocents: if this car has such pedigree as you explained earlier, why don't you want it anymore?  Superbirds and six pack cars come up for sale all the time which you've owned both and traded/sold to be here with this car, I'm confused??? :scratchchin:

wasn't this car for sale before you bought it for $499,999 un-restored,...

Well, yes it was...... Doesn't mean anyone entertained it....... It was a hail-mary, "I don't really wanna-sell-but-if-you-pay-this" price...

As I have continued to elude to, I am still pressing forward....... Just because I have it up for sale doesn't mean it will....... It is free to do so and I still eat my dinner and drink my beer at the end of a workday.....

That's exactly everything I was going to say, but you beat me to it. Why work your way up to the Cream of the crop, One of the rarest most desirable car with unique Pedigree just to trade away (downgrade) for a more common car anybody could buy? :scratchchin: :shruggy: :slap:

Operation Hemi Charger 500 component resto;

Shout-out to Scott Jay Smith and the Hemi Carbs he restored for my 69 Hemi auto Charger 500. They look great. If they perform like the carbs he did for my Daytona, they will be great. Then I just got back my front calipers and rear wheel cylinders. Michael Ross and his ingenuity and skills powder coated my calipers and wheel cylinders to give that natural look. Then sent them to Brake and Equipment Warehouse to service/rebuild. I know one will never really see them, but have the original bolts and cup dust shield rubber caps.. Waiting on the push pins. Will get them connected to the differential here soon and get closer to finishing up the rear end area.

Lookin good Troy... keep up the good work, and keep the pics flowing  :2thumbs:
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

1. Operation quarter glass; 69 Hemi Charger 500
A few days ago I received all my tinted glass from ECS.. From a visual point of view, they look stunning. Love the PPG/ Chrysler logo and date code stenciling. I noted the exact manner in which the stenciling was done and there are random differences. Some were stenciled on the outside of the glass, some on the inside. Some readable from the outside, some backwards from the outside. I was able to tell them what each piece of glass was. So, looks exactly like the original glass. Notice also the rubber tube spacer used on the fasteners, ribbed rubber tube !!!

2. Operation Hemi alternator; 69 Hemi C500
Well, finally got one thanks to Pj Jacobs .. Wasn't cheap, but this was one of those "if it is associated with HEMI, coin is involved". I am totally cool with it. It is 3 months behind my SPD but that's ok. Bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush and I ought to know since my last name is Hawkes... 😁
Maybe there is one who is looking for my build week that had mine and we can go from there.  But, this one is mine and it'll be a nice addition to Operation Hemi C500.
