Lost Wallet!

So last night I left school, after finishing my finals. I got some gas, and then drove home. Once I got home I found that my wallet was missing. After searching the car and I hadn't been in the house yet, so I drove back up to the gas station. Searched the gas station. No luck... it's gone. I spent an hour in the DMV this morning. I don't even know what was in my wallet. I canceled all my credit cards, and debit cards. It feels so weird to have it gone. I've had that wallet since I was 15... Damn

damn dude...that sucks. I lost my debit/ATM card about a month ago and it was a pain in the ass having to go  inside the bank to get cash and needing cash for everything during the week it took to get a new one.

I did find a wallet in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland last weekend. Unfortunately it only had $3 in it and a bunch of pictures of fat high school chicks.

Well that sucks, & replacing all the lost crap is the worst part.

My wife lost her wallet at a concert once, so after the show we looked around & found someone else's next to a port-a-john instead. There were a few credit cards, a driver's license, & less than $7 or $8 inside. There was a name & address, so I called this woman who was from Staten Island to tell her I had it. She was happy & said I can use the money to cover the postage to mail it to her & I said that was fine. I sent it a couple of days later, but I guess it wasn't fast enough.

She called me back with a real bitchy attitude asking if I had sent it yet. I said I had just mailed it 2 days after I called her, & she still bitched about why she hadn't received it. I told her she was lucky I sent it at all & that I should have just tossed it in the blue water & hung up.

You should have asked her if she had her ATM that day.

I lost my wallet in the movie theater one time while on a date with my GF and i went back the next day and looked all over where i was sitting.  Then 3 months later i get a call from the Theater saying they found it!  WTF?  It was undisturbed with everything including $30 in it.   ???

I still have my first wallet given to me when I was 8 years old. It is thick leather and I ripped the picture section out to make room for credit cards. I have lost it twice over the years. Both times it surfaced, once  in the washing machine and once in the car after getting replacement cards.

That's how often they clean the floor I guess. :icon_smile_dead:

I lost my wallet one night about four years ago and didn't discover it missing until the following night. After retracing my steps I realized I dropped it on the ground in front of my house and low and behold when I called the credit card companies someone had grabbed it and charged up a bunch of electronics at big store and spent the night at a hotel a few miles from my house. Fortunately my identity was never stolen but I lost a couple pieces of ID I never got back, such as my Indian tribe member card. The cards were cancelled and it cost me nothing but I was surprised how little anyone but me cared about the fraudulent charges. I guess it happens all the time and it just gets written off. If they steal your identity life becomes hell and I still worry a little about that after all this time. Hopefully they threw my wallet away when they were done partying.

You know, it's not a bad idea to photocopy your wallet's contents and file the copies away.  Then if you should lose your wallet, you'' at least know exactly what cards to cancel/replace.

Tough luck, amigo.  I hope the wallet turns up.

what i was told was that unless the credit card charges are over $6K they don't even bother to follow up to try to catch the perp.. and that's per card.. the crooks know this and keep the charges under that amount... and as the number of thefts go up the dollor amount goes up too...  :-\

I know how it sucks to lose your wallet. Last Winter I was doing some volunteer work at a small local movie house. After the show I was cleaning up and found a wallet. The theater owner told me to put it in his drawer. I knew the owner would never see it again if I did that because the wallet would just sit and sit like all the other crap found over the decades. I remember the kid because we saw him fooling around with his girl friend during the show. I think that's how his wallet fell out!
Note: Yes, we can see you doing that and you almost never see us watching you. And by the way, thanks for the show! ;)
Anyway, I looked in the wallet and it was some local high school kid based on the school id card so I went to the high school and tracked him down and got it to him.

Man, losing a wallet is pretty rough, maybe some of your stuff will finds it's way back.

Neil's advice is sound.  Photocopy EVERYTHING in your wallet (except for fat chick pictures and money) so when your license gets lost/stolen you can cancel your credit cards and know what's missing easily.  Plus it at least gives you SOME kind of ID.

Make sure you secure that photocopy as well as the wallet though, put it in your home safe.

Losing a wallet is not fun. I remember losing my wallet once. I was freaking out because of the amount of stuff I had in there, not quite like Costanza, but a lot of important stuff. I retraced my steps for days, searching out in the fields, around parts cars. Even had a few people searching with me. Finally I gave up and cancelled my credit cards, went and got new bank cards, ID, etc. Right after I did that I found my wallet in between the couch cushions.

Good to hear you got your stuff back. Although you're out some cash, it's a small loss compared to what coulda' happened.
