Hi fellas

A little advice, please

Currently running bog standard 383 in my 69 charger and looking to put more value into the car as well as grunt!

I have spied a couple of 440 reconditioned blocks curiously with similar numbers that being 4006630-440-10

I have done my best to look up the codes being a newbie and all and am I right in saying this would have been an agricultural block?

Well my question is really

FULLY RECONDITIONED HEADS
NEW VALVES
, BLOCK BORED(+.030) & DECKED
NEW PISTONS AND RINGS
NEW BEARINGS
STD CAMSHAFT LIFTERS & PUSHRODS
NEW TIMING KIT
OIL FILTER
NEW OIL PUMP
REAR HUMP SUMP
4BBL INTAKE MANIFOLD
TRIPLE PULLEY

Are there any obvious reasons you guys can think off why I could use this for my charger?

I'm out here in Australia and unfortunately, these things don't fall off trees here so limited amount of options

Anyway thank you for any input you can share and have G'day

Welcome to the board.

The 6630 casting is 1978, not necessarily industrial but likely from a truck especially with the "rear hump sump".

To use the described engine in your Charger you'll need to replace the pan and oil pickup with parts matched to your chassis. The pan and pickup from your current 383 will work.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Don't touch it unless you can verify what .030" over Pistons were used.

As said, unless you know what is in it, don't touch it. You could be disappointed with the performance. Depending on the money you want to spend, I would be opening up your current engine with a view to a stroker build. As far as adding value - you will do that but it will probably cost more than you add.

You know what your right!

I m not hearing that this is worth the dollars.

I will upgrade the carbi, new headers extractors and maybe put lumpy cam at a fraction of the cost.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Why don't you pull a head and see what you have for piston height, a set of edelbrock 75cc heads might be the ticket. When you know what you have a better decision can be made. Throwing a cam at it without knowing the compression can also be a disappointment.
