Looking for any info at all about a 1968 Hemi Charger. Car is from Toronto Ontario. Then went to Newfoundland. It was in my family for 20 years. We are just wondering what ever happened to it and if its still out there? VIN would be XS29J8B341119....only info we have is the car was trailered to New York / New Jersey and sold at swap meet..we were told possibly atco nationals? And possibly ended up in Connecticut..any info is greatly appreciated.

Already read all of that. But thanks for the reply

I saw a 68 Hemi Charger automatic car, that was painted like the General Lee and had a small block in it. It was owned by a guy who owns a junkyard that saved all the Mopars that ever went there in Rhode Island.  I think he may have sold the car,but he tends to drive them for a while and then stash them away,so he may still have the car. I remember it being pretty rusty, like it may have come from up north.  Not sure if this is the car you are asking about, but it was in the area where you said it might have ended up.

What condition was it in when your family owned it?

the only other reference I have seen to it is the MCG "Canada HEMI ship list" article from '93

what year & from where did it leave your family's possession?

Ryan440

It was in pretty decent shape when my dad had it. Road worthy for sure. I remember him taking it out every now and then and doing burnouts in it and then putting it away again before the police came haha

:eek2: there was this VIN-less green/black HEMI R/T in NJ a few years ago - but it was an automatic

Ryan440

Oh wow...I wonder if this could be it? Anymore info on this? How old are these pictures?

6bblgt

the "in the weeds" pic is from a NJ craigslist ad ~10 years ago & later in a few eBay ads (I believe the car was in Philadelphia by then) ~5 years ago

there were a couple threads on here about it, it was a US spec. car & its body Shipping Order Number (S.O.#) was B8X120608 - a Canada spec. car would've started "B8XA"

what year & from where did it leave your family's possession?

Ryan440

Thanks for the info. My dad is unsure exactly what year it was sold. We have it down to somewhere between 1996 and 2000. It was sold to his friend who sold it a few years later. Thats when it was taken to New York / New Jersey.. it was in our possession in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada

the Craigslist/eBay car was listed as column shift, things change over the years & it looks like some non-stock welds/brackets in there, so that's not exactly any evidence as to how it was new

what was the engine/transmission configuration when your dad and/or his friend had it?

mopar_man said it was a power window car, is that how your dad remembers it?  can't tell from the above pic if there are crank window regulators there  :shruggy:

Ryan440

The car was indeed a power window/ power disc brake car. When my dad had it the original hemi engine was gone. He replaced it with a 440, and it had the 440 in it when it was sold to his friend..as far as I know, that 440 engine is still here on the island. So when the car went to new york it was just a rolling shell.

i thought Hemi cars and 440(RTs) only came with 727 and 4 speed manuels ? But im seeing RTs with column shifts.
Could you buy a hemi or a 440 and have it come with a column shift?

Sure could... The console is, and always was, an option. I have seen my fair share of Hemi, 440 6bbl / 4bbl, Superbirds, 500's and Daytonas with column shift..

In the registry its listed as being in NY and disassembled

Used to see a lot more cars with column shift than now, I think a fair number have been converted over the years.
