Hey, sorry it's not a charger  but I picked up a 70 cuda and the alternator isn't hooked up. It's there bolted on ready. Could someone help me. Maybe explain where to start. Thanks

70 is 2 field wires and the main power wire. Power wire should have ring on it. Goes to stud. Other 2 go on the fields. 2 spade connections.

blue and green wires if wiring is still stock. Blue comes from ign ( positive ) green comes from regulator/firewall chassis ( negative ) throught their inner gutters, regulating the field.
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Thanks yall.  I think its original.  Might have found the wires. They are just taped up

I've got 3 wires, black, green and blue but only 1 field plug on the alternator

You have the wrong alternator then.

Sounds like you have a pre 70 one, which has a single field.

Gonna try to convert to one wire upgrade.  Is that very confusing

To convert the pre-'70 alternator to dual field you need to remove the grounded brush holder to an insulated brush holder with the second terminal.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Not to confuse the issue but if changing out ALT. there are really really much better modern type options. (The old setup is very low idle output.) My DENSO outputs 60amp at idle and can output as high as 120.

Do you have a link or part number for the Denso alternator you are talking about? Also, is it a drop-in fit, and do you wire it the same way as the stock alternator?

No it was a kit with brackets. You have even better options now for stock fit.
