we're sad today, my little doggie Bo, my friend has  been sick for  awhile. I've been carrying her in and out of the house, she couldn't make the stairs any more. she was 15 yrs old, i had her since she was 4 months old. she use to steal my tools from me when i worked under the cars in my yard. i would have to chase her to get my tools back. she stopped eating about 4 days ago. we have been cooking  ground Turkey and force feeding her, we thought maybe she would get her strength back but it didn't work. her hips were gone and there was nothing we could do. as soon as the doctor saw her, he knew it was her time. me and my wife knew too. it's hard, we don't have children. she was like our kid. well , at least she can rest now. I've known this was coming for a while but i gotta say it hit me hard. my wife is going to visit her folks in Europe for 3 weeks in June. after she comes  back, we will get a new puppy. I'd like a big black lab.
thank you guys for letting me vent, it's hard, i miss the little pain in the ass. here's a pic of BO. this is how i want to remember her when she was healthy. Rene +Nurit

Sorry to hear that Sam, it's always hard to lose a pet. they become like family after youve had them awhile.

a black lab is a good choice. my folks have one and he's great. he's a pain in the ass though.

Take care

:icon_smile_sad:  I too am sorry to hear of your canine companion is gone. She was lucky to have you. You loved her to the end & did the right thing for her. We could all hope to have someone care the way you do & did. It is very good to know there are folks like you still out there who care that much. My sincere condolences at your buddy's passing.

thank you guys  for your kind thoughts, it's amazing how they become part of the family. everytime i look in the corner were she slept, i see her laying there. if it was up to me I'd get a new dog tomorrow but it's not fair to my wife . she's never raised a dog from little puppy and is looking forward to it. i guess i can wait. i told her,  there tough when then little. they chew everything and don't listen. then there's the peeing and crapping everywhere.  I'm looking forward to the new dog too. puppy's are fun. thanks again guys , your nice words seem to help. Rene,
Sorry to hear about your loss. It's funny how they become a part of your family and a part of you. The sorrow that follows the loss of a pet is the very reason that I don't have a dog now. I't's just too hard to deal with their loss sometimes. I become attached to them so easily.

Some people dont understand the bond you can have with a dog. It's really heartbreaking to lose them. I understand and feel for you.

sorry to here that my black lab was hit by a car when he was just a pup had a broken hip, now he is 13 and sometimes can get up the stairs or simply stand up at all.  I dread the day we have to put him down but I would rather he not suffer.

my condolences as well. I know how you feel as I lost my cat and my dog last year within 2 months of each other.

Sorry for the loss of a family member to both of you, at least it looks like your little Bo was plenty loved and I'm sure she's nothing but grateful for every minute with you.
I know the feeling all too well, keep your chin up, the memories get better over time, I can now look at pictures of my little critter and have a huge smile on my face.

Sorry to hear this, it always sucks losing a 4-legged friend. :'(

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Always gets me sad when I read threads like this. Sorry to hear it Rene.  :'(

Do yourself a big favor and get yourself another pup when the time is right. There's one out there needing for you to take care of him and love him. My little Jackie is from a rescue, and because I don't see the Beagle as much as I used to, he has been a welcomed addition to the family. Share the love you gave Bo and will continue to give her, with another future member of your family.  :Twocents:

thanks guys, we're doing  a little better today, i left the rear door open this morning so the dog could go in and out. it's hard to break old habits. i saw a cat in my yard today. it's like they know that Bo's gone.  i found this place on the web  http://www.lab-rescue.com/adopt1.htm  gonna call them on Monday see if they get alot of very young puppies. we were messing around with names for a new puppy. i said we wouldn't know a name till we meet it. here's acouple, Doobie, it means teddy bear in Hebrew. i like the American translation.  :icon_smile_big:  Blumpy, Sam, stinky, my wife said no to that one. she said Harley, i sad no. it made us feel better, looking forward to a new pup.
it's funny the connection people have with animals two people from the neighborhood rang my bell and asked where's the dog been. when i told them they started crying. they said they aways stopped at the gate and talked to her. i barely know these people.
my one friend Artie came over, he's about 6 foot 5 inches tall and about 325lbs. he's been a moving man for 40 yrs, kind of a rough tuff guy, with a big heart.  he knew she was sick. all i did was point to her sleeping area. that now is all clean and her stuff is gone. he broke down crying. freaked me out . then i let go. stupid little doggie touched alot more people then i realized. made me feel good. thanks for all your kind words. we're good here and looking forward to the future. when we build the new house, we'll have space for two dogs. double trouble.  :yesnod:

Heck Rene you got me teared up too.  :'(  Sorry 'bout Bo man.

The cats we have don't quite cut it like the dog I had growing up.

You guys are making me  :'( again. I had to put my sweet black cat Haunted down several weeks ago. She had cancer & it just was eating her up. I miss her especially when it is dinner time & time to go to bed. She was a funny & silly girl. I can still hear her chasing her tail in the hall. I got to stop reading these posts. I do have other critters in my family, but she was very special. She was too young to go so soon.

sorry to hear that Ghoul , i had to have my cat put to sleep because she had a tumor , she was 17 years old and was borne in my house.she would sit and watch and or sleep for hours on the fender, while i worked on my charger. also generally created havoc in the garage looking in & trying to get in to  parts boxes etc, as only cat owners could appreciate

My condolences to you and your wife.  I can only imagine how you feel as my wife and I have two cats, on we got only 6 weeks old.  He is now just over a year old and you can just feel how much more attached you get to them as the time goes on.  Yes, even though they are an animal, they still become part of the family.  The pain will pass over time and the thoughts of a new pup will hopefully help make the transition an easier one.

I feel for you. I lost my dog back in January and it's still VERY hard, especially reading about others who have lost theirs too.
There really is not much that anyone can say that makes it better. I just try to think of the times that we had and I'm thankful for those times.
My belief is that I will see her again someday and I look forward to that time.

We have another puppy now, she was 5 months old yesterday and she is great but she is not Shadow.
I find it's easiet to get back in the saddle so to speak and get another buddy. They cannot replace but can suppliment.

thanks guys. i'm sorry for your loss gtx.   after  thiing about it for a while, every great dog i ever had was a mutt. so i think i'm gonna get a puppy from the shelter were bo came from. North Shore annimal league. i'll just look for a lab mix with big paws. Rene

Sorry for your losses guys.... Its funny how attached to the family animals get....Like you said they're like having a kid.... My dog joy is 13 years old right now and my mom thinks about whats gonna happen when she dies (my mom and joy are the only two women in a house with 5 guys :P) Shes still in good health for a 13 year old dog though. Still got some spunk. But shes got cataracts now and her back leg bucks her if its cold out side(had surgery on it  a  year or so ago)

Luckly shes still probley got a couple years left in her though.. Tough old dog still will go at it with just about any animal she sees :P

Sorry about your loss! And I wish you good luck in finding a new pup.

Man, this thread really got to me because my little cocker "Mandy" is 14yrs. 6 mos. old and has a health problem. She won't be around much longer, and I just can't imagine everyday life without my little buddy!

They sure do become one of the family!
