275 vs 295 Height

Am I right in thinking 295/50/15's on the rear will make the car sit lower than 275/60/15's ? How many inches ?

I really want the old school look with the back almost jacked up a little so if the 295's make it sit lower then maybe I'm best with 275's ?

How come they don't do the 295's with a 60 as opposed to just the 50 ?

Also will a 295 fit on a 15 x 8 wheel or is it best to go with 15 x 10

Thanks

295x50x15 is about 26.6" diameter.  275x60x15 is 28" so the 295 will set about 3/4" lower.

The 295 tire is 295/25.4 = 11.6" wide across the tread,  I would bet the tire manufacturer would recommend nothing smaller than 9" wheel or even 9.5".

Maybe just go to a smaller front tire to get the rake you want.  Or diddle the suspension.  In any case, you will probably need an alignment when you're done.

Great thanks, i'm not talking about ridiculously jacked up, I just mean I like the rear to sit a bit higher for an old school drag racing kind of look.

Did you narrow your rear bumper, it looks tucked more than normal, or is it just the angle of the pic? Also, I only see one bumper bolt per side...What going on back there? Thanks.

Whoops, I thought I was copying your pic CDR, not your tire size quote. My bad.

I run the 275 60's on my 68. While it looks cool (raised the height 2 inches, it robs you of a little low end grunt too. It 28" tall and the stock tire being 26" tall. If you already have low gears then maybe this wont matter to you.

CDR, you were my inspiration for ordering Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R in28X12.00R15Lt, which converts to approximately LT305/55R15. Hoping they fit! I also ordered 26X10.00R15Lt which converts to be LT255/55R15, which is the size I have now on the front in Goodyears....

Pretty sure the minimum width they recommend for the rears in 8.5", so the should fit with an 8" rim.
