Rear wheel well flange/edge width question

The wheel well flange where you would screw the wheel well mouldings on seem awfully wide. They are 1 1/2", the trim flange is around an 1". Is the factory ones that wide? If not can someone give me a measurement, or tell me the its wider than the factory wheel well moulding?

I usually fit the WO trim, and mark/trim off anything that shows on the inside of the trim, regardless if it's original/NOS/repro sheetmetal for a clean look... I hate seeing body color on the inside of WO trim, and if no trim is being used I prefer a uniform thickness around the wheel lip of a nominal size of no more than a healthy 1" in width
