:'(My first car was a 73 Charger LE. Unfortunatley I totalled it when I was 16.(still hurts). Appartently that was a pretty rare model because I've never even seen another LE. There aren't any registered either.  The most unique thing about it was the smaller side windows rolled down and it also had the power bulge hood. Does anyone else have info or pics of these?

TheGhost

I don't believe I've ever heard of the LE option....

I've heard of LEs, SSEs, etc. all of which never existed.

Somewhere inside it said limited edition, I think on the dash or door panels. It did have the rallye speedo ie. 150 mph and hood pins. I wasn't the original owner so surely it could have been modified.

I saw one of those very rare 73 Charger LE edition on here the other day. It had opera windows! It was the LE Continental edition!

Could the LE badging/decals be a dealer special Limited Edition. They have a habit of dressing up cars at the end of their production life, just to shift units....always a possibility.

There was a 73 Charger on E bay, that someone was looking at,and someone hacked an opera window into the C pillar,so I thought maybe thats what a Charger LE would look like! Maybe it was an ultra rare one of one car! NOT Just like all the rare cars on E scam!

Nacho-RT74

if you are taking about this IS NOT A REAL ONE, IS A BAD LOOKING ( imho ) CUSTOM JOB... check the thread started sometime ago about opera window ( is the link I posted first ):

Only that I like about that custom job is the full vinyl treatment roof isntead the halo roof, but is not complete since it has missed teh section between rear windshield and decklid. I like more a real Vinyl roof from A pillars up co C pillars than the halo top.

bulge hood and rolldown side windows aren't really unusual...  Mine's got both, it's a '72 rallye...  Maybe you read rallye but missed the "ral" "y" ? j/k :P

Interesting thread...
Those opera windows originated on the '50 ford thunderbird and were round, in the lift off roof and called "Opera Windows", as I recall they were a ONE DOLOR option...
In 1969 when the Lincoln Continental MARK IV came out they had the heyseed shaped one in/on..  (?) ... the charger there,.. Lots folks modified their cars by adding them, looks like it was done on that nice lookin third Gen.

But no L.E.s Special editions were made that I ever heard about,... regionally tho, most folks know about the White Hat specials and even the Mustang's Calif Edition Special with Shelby scoops and taillights.
Most folks don't know the Camaro had a Calif Special editon too, an RS in the same bright Green that came on the mid yr. Dodges called Spring green metallic, but that Camaro was just optioned lavishly
with ugly hup capps.

Ford and Chevy were in a war to out-sell the other.
Seems '69 was the Year Detroit clicked into high gear with the option packages.
ok im gonna go git my RR now... :drool5:

I know they did not make them, I thought of that car with the hacked in opera windows,as soon as I saw this thread! If they did make a Charger LE that would have been it!

yeah, I kept the hood and carb and other choice peices, sold the block to another mopar guy in Va. I sold various other parts from it over the years. After I wrecked this one I went out and got another within a year. This is my current '73.

I hope you are keeping the heroics to a minimum, that looks like a nice car. I would hate to see you endo this one.  :icon_smile_big:

Thanks, I was young and wreckless then, but no more. I've had this one since '88 with only a few speeding tix and one small deer.

Thanks. Here are a few more.

Nice.  I almost bought a triple white 73 SE one time and have always regretted letting it get away.  They just look awesome that color.
