Hey guys, let me ask you something. How difficult would it be to just assemble my own Hemi, provided I bought quality parts (like block, crank, pistons, etc.) balanced rotating parts and head assemblies from BEST, FHO, or Ray Barton? Would I be saving myself anymore money? I'm definetely no expert, however I have overhauled your basic 360 engines before. I did build turbine engines for quite sometime, but now I supervise our machine shop here at Solar Turbines so I also know a little about machining as well. Is it within my grasp?

For what Tim Banning charged at FHO, just buy one from him.  Honestly, I do not think you would save a ton.  Just my opinion.  I have gotten prices from him and well Just not worth my time.  ESP, with someone who is a PRO at doing hemis.

However, I am sure you could tackle it your self.  DO talk with Tim as he has or did have the best prices on the parts.

Thanks Tom. Yeah, I spoke with Tim and Chuck from BEST and I think you're probably right. Just now got off the phone again with Craig from RBRE and they are more expensive. Looks like I'm still going to go with BEST or FHO, best price vs. quality anyway. What do you have in your Charger Tom?

Do not yet.  I changed my mind so I have to change a few things.  I will be using a Keith Black Hemi block, and stage V heads.  I spoke with Tim and he was pretty postive of this for a 528 Supercharged combo.  I Know RBRE, has the highest prices from what I have seen are they good yes, but Tim is as well and has been doing this from the 70's from what I understand.
