I brought home a project a few weeks ago. Picked it up from an old timer in Wittman, Arizona. A 73 Charger Rallye, 400, 4spd, buckets, console, and A/C. Yellow with white top and interior. The car didnt run and needs restoration. It did not have a grille on the car. So I bought a new grille package from Classic Industries right after Christmas while they were having the "up to" 40% off sale. Then I realized there were no mounting brackets on the car for the grille either. Now it gets intersting.

Back in 2012 a guy in Europe contacts me, maybe through this forum even, about a car for sale in Phoenix, not far from me. A 73 Charger Rallye. He is interested in the car and asked if I could go see it and send him some pictures and my opinion of the car. Since it was not far, maybe a 1/2 hour drive, I do that for him. The car was rough, but ran, needed restoration, missing a lot of parts. I sent him some pics with my description of the car. Now I forgot doing this back in 2012.

I had a 73 Rallye 10 or so years ago that I sold. I had taken a lot of pictures of that car because I really liked it. So needing to see what the grille mounting brackets look like for this 73 Rallye I have now, I go looking back at my picture files on the computer to see if I have any of the grille and how it mounts. First file I run across is that 73 Rallye in Phoenix from back in 2012. I am thinking that I might have taken a shot showing behind the grille area on that car. So I open that file first. Look at what I see.

Pics of the 73 Rallye in the sellers garage/driveway in Phoenix back in 2012.

Pic of the 73 Rallye I bought this month from an old timer who basically lived in a junk yard in Wittman, Arizona.

Seems like the same car, more rust on roof from last 6 years, just weird that the mirror was not there in 2012 but it is there now :scratchchin:

It is the same car. I have more pictures of the interior and under hood that confirm it. When I went to see it this time I didnt remember the car at all from back in 2012.

I looked back at some of the pictures from 2012, the mirror was in the trunk. It had sun visors then and the dome light was in it back then too, they are gone now.

Cool story. When I get bored sometimes I look on ebay to see if my 72 SE that was stolen in 85 might be on there. Its a real big long shot but you never know. Although it had no engine or trans at the time and I didnt know it was gone for months so there is no police report or record of it.
