I am currently restoring my 68 R/T - triple black...(with tinted windows - :))

What paint/texture goes on the sides of the console.

Black (semi-glossy?) paint or vinyl?

If vinyl - padded?

As to music - what would be everyones favorite song to go with your Charger....?

I ´m still undecided, but started thinking while watching a Motown documentary about the Funk Brothers - awsome!

Being a Stones fan however I can think of a number of contending songs -  Start me up, Sympathy for the devil, you can ´t always get what you want - and Paint it black - for sure....

Console input much appreciated!

And ashtray - outer surface - paint or vinyl?

The console is hard plastic and should be black with that interior. There's no vinyl covering it. The ashtray door is metal - no vinyl pad on that either.

As for music, you should post that in Off Topic.

Welcome to the site!

I believe '68s had 2 different ashtrays, depending on whether they were early or late production.
One style 'flips out' and is metal.  The other 'slides down' and has a vinyl cover that matches the surrounding dash pad.

My 68 Runner has a pad, Mon and Dad bought new 2-14-68. 69 Charger is metal.

On the toon's, well Born to Run, High Way Star, Rader Love, Sweet 16 (Rod Stewart) Bad to the Bone (blowen 440) and any thing that rock's.

Funny, Charger has no radio, my stero are dual exhaust.

I should have remembered that since I have three of them... ::)

there's a piece of black carpet that goes along the lower front side of the console guys,.. with a 8 inch piece of curved chrome trim that secures it to the console on the pass. side. and, I painted my console semi-gloss black after i totally re-enforced the box part where the elbow goes, by epoxying in successive layers of plastic trees from old model car kits... i also added some plastic mesh first just to make sure, didn't want it cracking.

my fav. road song for the charger would prolly be "Black Dog" By Led Zep...     :musik010: :punkrocka:  :smoke: :METAL:
