'68 Charger taillight bracket hardware color?

On the factory car, the "w" shape taillight bracket was the body color, correct? What about the nuts and bolts that fasten the brackets to the tail panel? Were they painted?

Yes, those support brackets we're installed prior to paint so the hardware should be body color

Thanks for the pics rarefish. That looks like a really nice '68 survivor that you have there. I may have to bug you for some reference pictures along the way of me restoring my '68  :bow:

I thought the original tail light mounting hardware had the long speed nut looking types, but in these pics I see two different styles. Can both be correct?  :shruggy:

I've seen both types, and my car had a mix and match of both types as well. The only thing that I can figure is that some of the cars got the long smooth type in the areas that are prone to people's hands being around so the studs wouldn't cut people's hands while loading and unloading the trunk...
