wiring for variable speed wiper

Can anyone advise how to make this work. The harness is a donor, the wiper is a variable speed. There is one tab on the wiper control that does not have a connecting wire

That's a 71 switch. Plug and prongs disposition changes between 71 and 72/74. HOWEVER wiring is the same between both and ALSO between variable, 3 speeds and 2 speeds for both.

If you want to use variable speed, which was optional just to 71 on a 72/74, just change the plugs from the 72/74 harness for the 71 setup on same disposition of the 71 setup

71 uses two pieces plugs while 72/74 uses one piece plug.

This is my car as it looked 10 years ago.
If I want to us the variable speed switch referred to above, do I need to change wiper motors?

Also my harness is junk and was cut so I need a new wiring harness. It will help to know what I have here.

no, wiper motor can be the same. Var/3 speeds motors works the same. the switch makes the difference. I have a variable speed on my 74 even being just a 71 option.

which harness you have cut ? wiper one ?

you can get even a 2 speeds donor ( they use to be fairly cheap ) cut the motor ends and sold it to the motor ( 3 speeds are solded while 2 speeds are plugged )

just cut the ends and splice it into the motor wires on same colors

Yes it is the wiper harness that is cut. I will go look at it in the morning. Sounds like you are correct once again
