Who do you guys deal with when shipping things overseas ?  Are there contractors around any of the Ports, who collect incoming items and fill a container or what ?
Small package. Not a car or engine ect.

USPS for sure.

I still chuckle & roll my eyes at online sellers that will only mail small parts to the contiguous 'lower 48 states'.

Flat rate box fees apply to all 50 states, including Alaska & Hawaii.

USPS is charging me 90.00 to ship a 19 LBS package over to Europe.  WTF ?

I never found a cheap way even using slowest. As you first mention finding a cargo container going that way is by far the best. It was less hassle shipping an entire front bumper assembly with grill to Denmark than an 8LB box to England.
So how I can buy a dodad from China shipped for 1.95 or a model airplane from Japan off Amazon for 6.75 has me stumped.

It's 93.95$ for 19 LBS 4,8 Oz. I know it cos I paid it. Plus import fees (3.5%) plus VAT (19%) on everything when the stuff arrives here in Europe.
As far as I can say USPS is the cheapest (should say 'least expensive') shipper. For bigger items like bumpers, tranny, engine there are better options, just like b5blue wrote.
But hey, driving an old car isn't cheap, but worth every Cent, right?

Well, USPS is the easiest for shipping out. However, almost everything I have coming *in* is either Fedex or DHL. And 19 pounds is heavy! It would cost $60 to ship ground from my house to Seattle and over $63 for Priority.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I tried UPS and it was a little over 300.00 for the same item.  :brickwall:
Went Back to USPS and mailed it for 93.00.  :2thumbs:

Using USPS will mean won't be delivered by USPS, but by the local official postal service. USPS job stops at airport.

If you were to ship to Venezuela using USPS, once the airplane arrives, the local postal service called IPOSTEL will finalize the delivery job ( of course, with some of luck LOL )

Private parcels like DHL, FEDEX, UPS and similars got its own service on most countries so they make the job from begin to the end. If not, could make a team job ( by agreement ) with some other private local parcel service.

Aaaand that's why I use a private courier service with a warehouse in Miami, getting everything together, repackaged on one larger package as a consolidated parcel and being shipped by sea... usally takes 3 or 4 weeks to have in hands once leaves USA BUT, I allways wait to get the most merchandise as posible together at warehouse, because my courier service charges $150 as minimun charge, being equal to 7 or 8 cubic feet, no matter the weight. So It could take maybe 3 months to get what I buy untill reach the minimun charge for the package volume, then ship

Good info. BTW...DO NOT USE (BROWN) UPS FOR OVERSEAS DELIVERIES. 3 TIMES THE PRICE... RIP OFF

I know it costs me about double to ship an item FROM the USA than it does to send stuff to the same city in the US! You have got very expensive shipping charges over there (no matter which company you use) compared to the UK...which strikes me as odd as MOST things are cheaper....

.....the other annoying thing is how many of your big car parts suppliers won't ship oversees at all...at any price! Really?...its 2018 and we have a World economy. I bet you would struggle to find a UK car parts company that would not ship to the State's. Makes getting some Charger parts much more difficult for me than it should be.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

When my son was in Iraq we sent USPS standard shipping boxes ( about 1 ft. sq., as much as you can cram in it  ) for about $20. That price  was about 10 years ago and it took 2-3 weeks to arrive.

You got a good deal.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Mailing item to a APO (army post office) is always cheaper.

I have one better for you!

CNC-Motorsports ships overseas, but they don't accept any kind of card from outside USA. DOES THAT REALLY MAKE SENSE?

( i have a better rant about the customer service they provide that will post later )
