Which Antenna to buy?

Ive been through 3 aftermarket antennas on my 69. The little threaded part that sticks up is so weak, they just break off with even just a slight nudge to the aerial.

Are all the aftermarket ones like this, or is there something resonably stock looking i can buy that is actually up to the job?

That's what I have bought. They look the same, but are very easily broken. Can't find any nos ones, so trying to work out what to buy instead?

At one time, Metro Moldings out of Douglas, GA. was providing all of the antennas to the reproduction world.  They sold out several years ago with Classic buying  a large chunk of the business, mostly the tooling.  I know that the last group of antennas that they had were purchased by AMS Obsolete. 

At one time, Year One may have been purchasing the antennas from Chrysler, but at this point, I am pretty sure that Chrysler has not had any antennas available for a number of years.  Parts availability from Chrysler is now limited to pretty much what few items that overlapped into the truck and van market from the early 90s.

MM represents Metro Moldings which is no longer making reproduction parts.  The business may have been sourcing a sub-assembly from an OE vendor back in the day to provide a finished product.  But the finished product was put together in Douglas, GA where Metro was based while it was in operation.  Year One denotes actual Chrysler parts with the "FD" prefix if they were actually purchasing the part directly from Chrysler.  You have to keep in mind that when they started assigning part numbers to the items they were sourcing directly from Chrysler in the very early 80s, there was a lots more available.  Almost 40 years later, next to nothing is available from Chrysler and the original vendors for these cars.

They actually have in the catalog that mm69 is a chrysler part made by the original chrylser vendor, I wonder if they they are passing this off as original oem vendror but its not, or if they have a surplus of them still. The non telescopic actually just says " reproduction" with no explanation as does the telescopic one.

I have my original, but was thinking about getting a spare ifnit was the case with it being an original type quality

I purchased the entire assy of the B body (70 Charger) antenna parts from YEAR ONE, about $100-150 for the entire set up, ZERO issues, well made...

I'm trying a fully retractable one that looks nothing like stock. (18.00 eBay) I see bad to so so reviews for powered retractable mostly.

Interesting 

My last 2 came from them. They have a really small thread taht secures the aerial to the base. Its tiny and just soft brass. Just catch the aerial with your arm and it snaps off. Was a few years ago though. Any chance of some pics?
