Hello my friend is thinking about looking/ bidding on this car,https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Dodge-Charger-Special-Edition/273550440555. Any history on this site about this car. Vin#XP29H9G122252. Thanks for any help guys

Doors look like they are bubbling / rusting out in the lower front corners.  Pass side Quarter panel doesn't fit the contour of the pass side door, could be alignment OR could be the way the quarter was welded on.  No interior panels in the pics.  Should see this one in person for sure before buying, bring a magnet.

Seems fairly clean. First things first, those rims have to go
God awful, looks like something youd see on a long ass low rider lincoln with 4 gang banger homies driving around the worst areas of detroit would have on   Pair of magnum 500s or something that looks better and id be happy.

Look closer. The gaps and panel fitment look like crap as does the color on that year car. Remind me never to have you look at a car for me.

No pictures of the left side, which leads me to believe that this is the better side.

I'd put some boots on the ground and personally inspect. I believe that this is a detail and flip shop and they might be members on here but I can't recall. I know that there was a crew in Lima OH doing this when I was looking for my car in the 2009-11 time frame and the shop and exterior landscape looks familiar.  The easiest thing to do is get a business name/address and do some searches for complaints and go from there. I saw a few cars that I liked from them but never called on any as it never passed the smell test with me so I didn't go any further.

DON'T shortcut the research or inspection processes!

Bodywork looks pretty poor on this one.

I would tread very carefully.

I don't think the middle of the door should be casting a shadow on to the quarter.

I think I'd run a magnet over every square inch of that car before I went any farther. As everyone else has said the panel gaps are pretty terrible and since you already know the passenger's quarter has been replaced there's a good chance the panel wasn't welded on right. The vinyl top also looks a little bubbly/uneven to me but it could just be the light?

No need to look any further, I wouldn't consider this car. (unless it was cheap enough to use as a starting point to knock it down and do it over)

If your friend has interest in the car having the Special Edition option (A47 code on the fender tag), he should be made aware of this;

A47 / SE option included...

-- Wood grain dash, not the black pebble grain in the car now.
-- "SE" emblems on the sail panels (maybe removed and not replaced when the vinyl roof was done?)
-- Wood grain steering wheel. Obviously there is an aftermarket wheel now, but if he wants to make it a "correct" SE model, they are expensive.
-- The pedal dress-up / trim is missing from the gas and brake pedals. That is an easy fix though.

The listing says "The power seats are 6-way power seats". Power seats were not an option, so who knows what has been done? There was an option for 6 way manual driver seat though.

I think that this is one of those cars that the first thing to do is compare the rad support and trunk numbers to the fender tag and dash vin tag.

Like anything if the price fits it could be a good buy.
I don't think the quality sits with the standard that should belong to a 30k plus $$ charger, but its still a great car for what it is.
Granted its yellow, so for me thats a not a good thing..
Being an SE is nothing very specail, so the fact that they are pushing that in the advert says to me they are likely to also overprice the car.

The quarters were hung..  badly.     It'd have to be cheap enough to cover the cost of getting it to a real body shop.   And then you can always change the 'hideous' yellow.   :P

Agreed, depending upon price, and inspection for no hidden structural or mechanical issues ?.... "it is what it is"

As long as a guy would enjoy it "as is" fine & dandy, be happy.
Just don't anybody go kidding themselves that for a few bucks it could be made perfect ? THAT, IMO, could go downhill very quickly and become an absolute money pit.

Look at the rear bumper & corner cap area on the far (driver) side.

Man, they weren't even trying.

I don't think the door is shut in the photo of the car outside. If you look at the photo of the car inside, the passenger door lines up just fine at the quarter. Im guessing the trunk latch needs to be adjusted down so that the decklid sits lower at the rear. If you look, the decklid sits higher than the quarter on both sides. Indicative that it is the latch. Two bolts; easy fix. Also, the trunk could not be latched and just resting there. This car has its issues, but isn't as big a pile as made out to be.

Yes it should have the wood grain on the dash as stated, but I have a one owner 69 S.E. 4-speed that the owner stated that he bought that way. No wood grain on any of the dash, for what ever reason, he picked it up from the dealer that way. Maybe the factory ran out that shift, keep the line running, we'll change it out later, never happened. But on this car as stated, check everything over & walk on, for what they are wanting you could come look at my Red, 69 S.E. numbers matching or send you Pict's.

Door looks closed all the way to me, I guess those aren't rust bubbles on the door corners either but just a little dust on everyone's monitors.  Maybe you should buy it yourself if you think is such a good buy, unless you're the seller.

Did I attack you personally? Back off. I did say the car has issues. Rust bubbles on the door would qualify as issues. Read before you rant. I still think the car is not as bad as described. I am under no contractual obligation to purchase the car because I stated my opinion.

I'm seeing more problems then just the trunk lid & latch & they are not as easily fixed, things that should of been fixed before ever painted :scratchchin:

I agree. judging by the shots of the underbody, it was not a total rotbox to start with. There are some quality parts there, looks like a few steps were skipped in the bodywork process.
