Odd numbers on torsion bar ends???

Ok, here is something puzzling to me.  I thought that the torsion bars were supposed to have one with a number ending in even and one with a number ending in odd.  Check out the torsion bars on my car in the photo below that have a marking L and R.  (assuming they are for right and left).  To my knowledge these torsion bars are original to the car and were only removed at one point for work to the suspension system prior to me owning the car.

Why does both bars end with the number 9 yet have a L and R marking????? ???

Different Manufacturer's will mark and stamp them, some will put an R and an L, some use odd and evan numbers.

Take a picture of the other end of the bars and I think you'll have your answer.  (the end in your picture has the date codes, not the part numbers)

Mopar did use the odd and even numbers to label sides. That doesn't means rest of brands made it on that way.

I don't think those are original from fact, but... ???

Andy, the other end has what looks like 780 and the other bar is totally blank.

780 is an original bar, can't explain the blank one it should be a 781 if memory serves me correctly.

Those are factory bars.  The DPCD stamp indicates that it is a factory part.  That is the old Dodge Plymouth Chrysler Desoto forging mark.

:scope: :iagree:  and those last three numbers would be on the your chargers broadcast sheet , if they are the original diameter bar.

My build sheet seems to be long gone as it was not located in the car :bawling:
