Nice.....except I don't buy the bit about burying the "155 mph" speedo by switching from 4.11 to 3.55's...I have a hard time believing you'd do that without 2.76's

Cheers,

someone had to bring up that douschebag again i see. thanks RD.  :flame:

i like the hood scoop on that car. it looks good in black.

twilt

I never had me one of them there 155 mph dashes. all mine only go up to 150. The hood looks better than the one with the twin Duster scoops.

check it out...  :icon_smile_approve:

I just got a line on a '71 R.R. 340, 727, lemon twist and black, "all stock and #s matching" says the current owner, who also says it needs lower quarters,.. has 77K miles and has "all original equipment save the carb and filters"... he wants $14K . i'm supposed to see it wends when it emerges from the uphostery shop with new seat covers. Stock 340 hood BTW.
and yes i'm feeling the fever...
a little funds transfer is now on line for tomarrow!   :icon_smile_wink:

 YES!
Thumbs up
I beat out the other guys... He's promised to sell it to me first.. details asap!
It's gold all original except the tires, carb and a fuel pump,.. rallye wheels. power steering, black bench colum shft. everything but the dome light works. orig crappy radio, sat out side for over a year, don't look to have been washed or cleaned in the last 10. only surface scale rust alot of door dings, three scrapes... drives alittle loose but will chirp the tires. asking price is 14,500.oo.  no rust in the usual spots but will require TLC. & that could be fun! spiderwebs everywhere and hella dusty. when i finally got on it the vents vented and blew crap all over... it's pretty nice! 'n rare too. loots folks took pics with their camara phones. great fun!
I took lots of pics i will download later!

That black first car looks cool, blacked out grill.  Enough carb on it?

Sounds like that car you are buying could be sold for more with just a good detail job.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

I would like to talk with ayone who owns a stock 340 engined car, were any superbees made with that motor in '71 or two?...

Old Moparz

Nice find & good luck, I like the '71 Road Runners.  :2thumbs:

The air grabber on that year is nice & if I recall, someone is making the replacement parts as well as a fiberglass bubble itself. I think the rest of the car is tough to get parts for, for that year.

I just remembered a funny story about that air grabber hood scoop. The previous owner of my first '69 Charger (early 1980's) had modified the hood & grafted one on. It looked pretty good & not as strange as it sounds, but he never used lock washers & it blew off the car after I had it for awhile. It landed in some shrubs & only had a small crack, so I saved it to repair it.

Well, just like a lot of other unfinished projects I have, I never fixed it but did bolt it back on to cover the hole. Of course I did the same thing the previous owner did, & not use lock washers. It came off the car again one night on a dark & deserted back road. This time I put it in reverse to go back for it & heard this strange THUMP - THUMP  & cringed knowing that the rear & then the front tires nailed it.

When I found it in the road, it was destroyed beyond repair. If it was repairable when it landed, I made sure it wasn't when I used it as a speed bump. The only part I saved, that was still good, which I still have, was the trap door hinge.  :D

Good to see someone else with Road Runner fever.

No Superbees ever came with the 340, the smallest availible engine in a Bee was the 383.

This car doesn't happen to have a fixed ding on the passenger door and an old owner who talks forever, does it [ Formerly a WA state car] ?

Superbee was available w/ 340 in 1971 when it was a trim package on the charger body.
What is the question for stock 340 owner cars ?

:iagree:  The first car i ever rode in was a 73 RR when Dad drove me and Mom home from the hospital.  Mom said she held her hands over my ears because the exhaust was so loud! :o
