I have an exhaust leak. The exhaust is brand new all the way back from the manifolds. There is a quiet like air leak that gets faster as you go down the road or rev up the motor and slower as the car is just a idol.It also really smells inside the car like almost gas sometimes.Ive checked the gaskets and checked where the exhaust mounts to the manifolds and i cannot find a leak.Is it possible there is a crack in the exhaust manifold? How can i check this stuff out? :-\

P.S this is the stock manifolds no headers....318 motor

I never use gaskets between the heads & manifolds  they always blow out , just a thin layer of Ultra Copper silicone , it i spossible the manifold is craked but it should be easy to see

easiest wasy to find an exhaust leak is take about two cap fulls of trans fluid and dump down the carb while running and it will smoke through the crack.

While the engine's idling try having somebody hold a large rag or towel over the tailpipe opening.  That should make the leak easier to hear and find.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

:iagree:   This I agree with. Unless you have a cross over pipe. Then you will need two rags and two friends.. ;)

I am not a big fan of dumping oil or tranny fluid down the throat of a motor.

I agree.  For fun you could use a banana, like in Beverly Hills Cop.  :P
