Anyone like antique tractors?

Went to a show today, piss poor weather for a show, but that's beside the point.  There were only 3 other Mopars besides mine:  66 Belvedere 2 door, 64 Barracuda in gorgeous condition, and a 70 Satellite ragtop.  I'll probably post those up later tonight, but for now, it's the tractors.

All those old tractors are cool.  We have a 2 cylinder club here and an old iron club and they get together all over the place in Kansas here and have a big show at the state fair every year.  Next weekend about 60 miles from here the antique truck club is going to a show with the old tractors. Should be a neat show to check out.

My buddy had an old IH low boy cub  like the one in this picture. It was a fun little tractor to run around on out at his place.

We had 3 old M's, when I lived on the farm.  Unfortunatly, they got sold when we moved to town.  I really wanted one of them.

Cool.  I used to work on a lot of them old Farmalls, JD's,  Minnie Mo's,  etc.  back at MI a long time ago.    Mostly worked on 8N ferds tho.

My favorite was the 1903 Hoyt Clagwell, a guy down the road in Hooterville used to use one (when it was running) his stupid farmhand wasnt much help either...His wife's cooking sucked & he had to climb a telephone pole to call out. Ah, to be young and impressionable in the late 60's/early 70's....

FARMALLS  FOREVER !!!!!!
I have 2 farmall H's  ,A IH 574 utility tractor and a Hough HR60 Payloader.Plus IH square baler,case hay rake,and other stuff.
I have a good buddy who has restored a Frick Steam engine.I hepled do some welding on it.He is restoring A Port Huron Engine now I think.
I tell you what if you have the time and go to an actual antique tractor show you would have a great time.And if you have young kids they are the best thing to do as a family.I go to car shows but tractor shows are more family oriented.
Go to a tractor show and most of the time your kids can get a ride on atractor putting around the show.try that at a car show.And the kids love it.My kids love getting to blow the whistle on the steam tractors.

we use to have an old CASE tractor you would have to crank start it and we plowed the farm with it up tell we planted x-mas trees back in 1980 and my uncle back in North Dakota still has a running OLIVER on the farm, that dam things a tank, has all metal wheels if I remeber right...................

i really enjoy old tractors too, i currently have a 1940 Farmall M that my grandfather left me...when i was 10 years old instead of buying me a power wheels jeep that i really wanted my dad went  and bought me a 1941 john deere b for 200 bucks from an old farmer and got it running for me....i learned to drive on a 51 Allis Chalmers CA...i really like the antique equipment they used with them too, like the massey harris clipper pull type combine i got with my Farmall....

i married into a family that is a big time JD fans   my wife has a 39 JD H that her dad and her restored about 10 years ago.   I think my father n law has  about 15 old 2 cylinder JD not including  3 old combines and and all the implements her has.

I've always loved old tractors (my first mechanical love- age 5) I do have a 1952 8N, some may not consider the Ford in a class with the Chalmers or John Deere as far as heavy duty stuff, but that old thing is bulletproof & I use it all the time on my 3 acres. Never lets me down, Great tractor! I really do love those old steel wheeled crank type monsters though...

I've always loved tractors. My dad put me on top of a Johnny Popper to drag a harrow around when I was 12. Ever since then I've loved going in circles on a tractor. I'd do it for a living right now if it paid worth a hoot.

When I worked as a newspaper reporter I did a feature on a guy in the next town over that owns several tractors. At the time I did the story he had 32 of them, most of them JD, but I'm sure the number has fluxuated since then. Any Charger owner who's out of the tractor loop would be surprised to discover how much some of these old tractors are selling for right now. I'd keep an eye out for old neglected tractors as well as Chargers if you want to make some money.

A co worker of mine is selling his 3 acres in Madera and has an old John Deere (early 1930's ? small front wheeled, crank handle type) it seems pretty small. Anyway he'd like to sell it, says it runs. I think he only wants a few hundred bucks for it if anyone around central Ca. is interested...

they didn't make many of those 730's in high crops...and they made even fewer that ran on Propane..

yeah not to bad of a return   he bought it as a basket case   about 10 or 15 years ago  for  $1000  i beleive and half way restored it him self  and got that much out of it

Old tractors are cool.  I have a 1942 Farmall H model, kick ass machine.  I've used it for everything from plowing snow to pulling stumps.  It still runs good, needs a manifold and some tires.  I'd like to redo it eventually.

i work for john deere, and i can't stand tractors now!  and on a second note, i think silver r/t got beat up alot in high school.  he acts like such a pud on here!  just to let you know, not a whole lot of people would take your sh*t if you were in person.  it's a little to late to grow a sack now that you can hide behind your computer.

It was called a rhetorical question.

Now, I understand that "rhetorical" is a pretty big word for you, so I'll explain what it means.  Rhetorical means a question asked, which is not meant to be answered.  Do you follow me so far?  No?  Well, I'll go on anyway.  The thread title was merely a means of letting people know that this thread was about antique tractors, so that those of us who do would look at it.  It was not asking if they liked the tractors or not.

We runn a threshing show every summer called Spring Creek Thresher's Reunion. We are located in Golden Valley,ND and do not charge admission. we are a mile and 1/2 south of town and EVERYONE is welcome.

Hey that probably isn't too far of a drive for me.  Where exactly is Golden Valley and what are the dates for your show?  The show down here in Sturgis is during the 3rd weekend in August.  I believe the dates are the 18th, 19th and 20th.
