Hi everybody,

I haven't really posted on here but I do have a question for you all familiar with 3rd gens. My neighbor has a 1973 Charger- 318, Auto, A/C. It is mostly original and has been parked for years. Anyway, since he's pulled it out and started driving it, it has been running hot. He has done all the typical stuff to troubleshoot this. His most recent effort was to buy a radiator shroud as it did not have one. Once installed, the shroud hit the top of the fan blade. As I looked down the radiator mounting flange on the passenger side, I noticed the flange had been cut towards the bottom (I assume to fit around the front frame rail) and that someone had drilled new holes in the core support and mounted the radiator about 1.5 inches lower from the original mounting points which is what caused the shroud to hit the fan. I was hoping someone could ID the radiator currently in the car and suggest the correct one. The part numbers I found on the radiator were 3574 618 and then 59538 below those numbers. Any help would be majorly appreciated!

My '73 Service manual shows a 3673927-  26" radiator for 318 w/air
3673928_  28" radiator for max cooling / Police

the lower Attach points where sometimes slotted to ease install/remove . Picture would help.

Fix hitting the fan of course . Taking the shroud off if necessary.

in general:,

if it overheats in traffic it is an airflow thru the radiator problem.  Blocked cooling fins, bad fan clutch, wrong fan/clutch. When warm idling the fan should draw air like a 20 inch box fan on low/med. thru the radiator.

If it heats up on the road its a radiator problem. Plugged cooling tubes , scale build up , blocked cooling fins (again, first thing I would check)

I assume the a/c dose not work anymore? check condenser fins
