THE COLONEL

So a friend of mine has a neighbor that wants to sell his 85 Shelby.  4cyl Turbo, with 5,700 miles on it.  Rust free, and has been in a garage for 20 years .  Naturally, I can't fine any kind of info on a "what would it go for price" anywhere on the internet.  What could one of those be worth?  I don't know if it runs, he didn't say, but lets just assume it does.  Any ideas?

L-bodies are fun, but pretty unrefined.   146 HP and torque steer.     I could see a nice condition driver at $3500-$4500.     If it was a 5700 mile cream puff and minty mint, then more $ as a retail sale number.    The turbododge.com board might be a better source.

So, how much does he want for it?     Does it look like a 5700 mile car should?     Can you get in it today and drive it?      If it's all stock, that's a plus.

If it has not been maintained, all bets are off.    Plan on going through the fuel system,  cooling system, brakes, just like any other old car.    It will need a timing belt service.    The 2.2 is not an interference engine as I recall.

hopefully it was in a garage for 33 years :scratchchin:
RK Motors had a couple low mile Dodge Shelby vehicles for sale, don't recall the asking prices - but I'm sure they were high

this is the only one I could find still on-line, how close is the condition/description to this ~8,000 mile '83?

An '85 Shelby Charger was my very 1st brand new car.  Mine was red, with the Sun / Sound / Shade option.  It stickered for $10,124.00.    A ton of fun to drive, but not the greatest design.  It had too much power for the clutch, transmission, drivers wheel bearing.  I replaced all of those components on mine...several times.  Sadly, today they are about a $500.00 car.  Let's see some pics of the car in question.  I've been known to overpay for cars.

A little off topic, but I think I saw you driving your yellow Charger yesterday.  On Brodhead road up by the Beaver Valley mall.  Beautiful car my friend.

The actual Shelbys like the black car above are the most desirable and rarest of the bunch. If the 1985 is an absolute cream puff with that low of miles, and he is willing to wait for just the right buyer, I would say he should be able to sell it for 6-7K. You see the run of the mill high mileage ones on eBay for $2000-2500, and the little bit nicer and lower mileage ones go for $3500-4500.
