Trying to adjust the kickdown linkage on my 440.  Should the rearmost portion of the kickdown linkage that connects to the throttle rod be touching the throttle rod from the back of this rod before I install the tranny return spring.  I hooked it up before I installed the tranny spring and it wont unscrew enough to barely touch the rod as the manual says.  Iam running a 440 727 with edelbrock carb. carb also has adaptor to accept this package.  Any thougts or idea?

The purpose of the spring is to pull the linkage forward against the throttle lever pin, install it first

The back of the slot in the top rod shoud rest against the rear of the pin with the carb at warm idle.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
