71 PS column length

I bought a manual steering column and will convert it to a power steering. How much do i need to cut of the bottom shaft?

What can i use for a plastic junk to re-lock the shafts together?

Is there a thread on doing this?

I think get a full column will be easier, should be plenty around. Maunal steering shafts are harder. 4 doors are the same. Can get 71/72.

Not just the column lenght but also the coupler changes. Steering box splined stud is larger diameter on manual steering boxes.

Long time ago, a thread was made about how rebuilt the safety plastic pins on colapsible shaft. I think some ppl used the heating glue gun for it BUT would need also to heat the shaft to keep it liquid after being driopped by the gun. Trying to fill it as much as posible. Some ppl has used plastic rivets too.

I already own 2 manual steering columns, I was not able to find an affordable power steering column.

Nothing on these 71's are easy to find. I have coupler's but i believe the changes came after 71.

Changes comes after 72.

As mentioned, 2 and 4 doors are the same, 71 and 72. I bet will find a donor from Coronet or satellites. Go to junkyards. Several got webs. Ppl parting out 71/72 b bodies
