Replacing rear wheel studs w/ longer studs

Hi all, I bought a set of the Wheel Vintique OE steelies (will post some pics once I get them all fit and installed) and the rears are too far inward so would clearly rub against the inside of the wheel well. I am looking to get some spacers – between ¼" and ½" should do the trick, but don't want to install spacers on the stock wheel studs since they only have like an inch of thread on them. Is replacing the wheel studs on the rear drums as 'easy' as pressing them out and pressing new ones in at a machine shop, or would it be more complicated with longer ones that may not fit to be pushed through the rear of where they mount? Would this require removing the axle to install longer wheel studs?

So I brought the Charger to the shop and they said they could press out and in longer studs without having to take the axle apart which is good. Only problem is I'm not finding longer wheel studs with our knurl diameter anywhere. Any suggestions? I looked through this subforum and saw people recommending Moroso, Mancini Racing, Summit and Jegs but I've only been able to find replacement studs in the stock lenght. Has anyone had luck finding longer wheel studs?

I went to Napa yesterday and they said the knurl size I should be looking for is .673". I just need the studs to be half an inch longer or so to accommodate the spacer and give me sufficient room to tighten on lug nuts.

Hey cdr, thanks. After some additional research I'm going to try and sell (or return) the 15x10s with the 5.5" backspacing and order some from Wheel Vintiques with custom backspacing so I don't have to use spacers. I was having a heck of a time finding longer studs and figure getting wheels with the correct backspacing for my wheel wells would be the proper route vs. just running spacers.

Listed the wheels for sale on here if any one is interested!

Bummer they didnt' work out for me with the backspacing that most find is perfect, but looking forward to getting them on. Test fitting looked super mean with the steelies! Loving the look ... once I get clearance ironed out!

ARP  3" long studs at .680 knurl and $40 per 5 is a lot cheaper than custom backspace wheels.

Nearly all replacement studs knurl will be slightly larger than stock to create some additional bite in case of damage during removal.

USUALLY spacers got studs attached. Stock studs are used to attach the spacer itself against the hub. This makes the spacer studs to fit in the middle of the stock ones

In any case, install the replacement studs are fairly easy with axles in place but is way easier with brake bands removed. I installed some using a lug nut and spacer to the axle hub.

Spacers with studs attached are typically only sold for spacers wider than like 1". I only needed .25-.5" so those would just go on the studs with no new studs to mount to which is why the longer studs would be needed.

HPP, I was able to return my wheels to Summit and I ordered the custom backspacing set for $25/per wheel more so my route will be cheaper for me. It's certainly more hassle and wait time though between returning the wheels and waiting for the custom order wheels. Wheel Vintiques gave an estimate of 4-6 weeks and I'm at week 3 now since ordering them. We'll see if they come by 6 weeks. Fingers crossed.

Just for the sake of compiling information into this useful thread, what is the knurl size for the front?

I'm glad this question came up, as I've been considering some 1/2 inch spacers on the rear myself.
