you paint the black out around the headlight door then apply the Black decals that the line your seeing, i think

I made the same mistake around the Superbird headlights myself!
The trick is to get good paint coverage on what will show when the decals are applied and then thin it out from there.
If you tape it off that's the lines that show once the decals lay down.
