Who makes a dual 4 bbl intake that will fit a 400? Any brand recomendations? Thanks.

Well I love my Offenhauser 360 but its only for a single 4 bbl. They do make a dual quad part # off-5701 in my 2003 paw catlog price was $299.95 but you know how everything keeps going up. That what I would use , thats a high rise they make a low profile also # off-5186 for $223.95 back in 2003. High rise flows better but does not always fit. I am using a single plane 360 and it idles better than my dual plane eddy , wish I never got it. Should let it go on e-bay. I think summitt racing can get it too.

IMHO, dual 4bbls are great as eye candy, and it is possible to tune them to work great.  They can be a humongous pain in the arse as well.

This is coming from a guy with a factory-stock 2x4 hemicar, and a 2-ton truck with a dual-quad setup also.  If you have the time and patience, as well as a high aptitude for tuning an engine, it'd work great.

I'm still trying to dial in the carbs on the 2-ton truck.  I had bungs welded in the header collectors, and I'm going to get one of those engine analyzers that records data and will transfer it to a PC.  Depending on the RPM, throttle position, and engine load, it will run both lean and fat, and somewhere in between.  The hard part is figuring out what it's doing when.  There are just a whole lot more variables with a dual quad setup, and I HOPE I'll get it figured out someday.

Tom Hoover (considered the Father or Godfather of the Hemi engine) said that he wished they had gone with a single quad setup for the Hemi, but conventional wisdom was that a dual quad setup made more power - and they hadn't designed the M1 intake manifold yet.

I have an original early, optional, 383 dual quad intake. It has been sand blasted, hot tanked and magna fluxed to check for cracks. It was then hot tanked again and painted chrysler blue. I will never use it. I could sell it to you. I am trying to empty out my small garage and saw it sitting in a cabinet. Make me a fair offer and I'll ship it to you. Oh, by the way, its a factory Chrysler intake.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

Yep I was going to use this same intake but decided to stiick with my single plane.  I don't remeber what all they were used on but if I remenber right it was the early 383 (optional), 350 and 361 if I remember right.  It seemed to be a good intake but it was cast iron. Got mine off e-bay and even though they aren't that common they come along pretty frequently.

:iagree: i have ran 2x4 set ups in the past and they can be a peel to get right. i run a single 4 bbl on my 426 hemi since i'm tired of trying to get them right.

the older stock 2x4 intakes from the 361 and 383's are a poor design and don't flow very well.

if you want some performance and eye candy i would go with a 6 pack set up.

If I went with the low deck dual quad, would it fit under a bulge hood? What air cleaner would fit? Any pics.

To me the eye candy of the duals is good. And to be honest I've often wanted to have a max wedge style intake on my car with dual 4 bbls, but for perfomance stick to the single 4 bbl. Just my opinion. Now the duals, make for more conversation pieces at shows, and do perform but aren't as practical.
