Bought a carter hp street pump over a year ago started leaking about 2 months ago. Bought a new one from summit put on car 12 month ago, test ran car no leaks. Start car up today leaks like crazy. They both leaked out the diaphram. What could be wrong? Anything that I could be doing wrong? This is driving me nuts! Have never had problem like this before. Thanks Doug.  :icon_smile_cool: After calling summit and federal mougal tech line, came to conclusion that the gas in the car had a high achohol content. Drained as much gas as I could and put in 10 gallons of new gas. Ran car no more leaks.  ;)

2 diaphrams in 12 months, I would have to say it's rust coming from fuel lines or the tank.  Have you checked the condition of your entire fuel system? Also the pick-up tube sock on your sending unit? This would sure be my first place to search. 2 pumps in 12 months is ridiculous!

I had a similar problem with the Carter.  Brand new Carter HP pump was dumping fuel into my oil big time.  If that thing could have gotten some Air, it would have blown my car to smithereens.  The Diaphram was leaking just as you describe.  Maybe they have some quality control issues not sure.
