Hi all,
having trouble starting my 73 440 and I want to change out the ballast resistor.
Page 8-122 of the 1973 service manual says that the Coil side of the ballast resistor should be between .50 and .60 ohms while the Control unit side aux side) should be between 4.75 and 5.75 ohms.
Mine reads 1.4 on the coil side.  And an internet search of NAPA, Mopar, and Mancini racing all show 1.4 ohms on the coil side.
Did they quit making the lower resistance dual ballast resistor?  would a higher than specified resistance cause these ignitions to have problems?
Car dies after letting going of the key and I am slowly changing everything, wondering if the wrong resistance is part of the problem)
thanks
Vic
